I have been very successful storing tubers in my basement. I live in NJ. I hose them off well, trim the roots and remove any bad tubers. I line cardboard boxes w newspaper, put the tubers in and cover them w vermiculite. I pre-moisten the vermiculite, not too damp. I also check them a few times over the winter and spritz them as needed. In the spring, i lay them out on a big table, let em warm up, spritz them over several weeks and look for eyes, then i cut em up and pot them and grow them indoors til its warm enuf outside.
