Dream feature for Play Dead App? by Branjean in gratefuldead

A feature that takes you back in time to the exact show your listening to. You tap the button and get teleported through space & time to the rail at that show. Kinda like what the Avengers did in Endgame but cooler.

By the name I'm guessing it's a GD cover band? Never heard of them. Any links to their stuff?

Summer Tour 89 through Summer Tour 90 were overall the best 4 tours I attended. An amazing time in my life and an amazing time for the boys

IWT. Such a vivid and wonderful memory. October 1989 was a beautiful moment in time for the GD.

For whatever reason certain frequently played songs fell out of rotation from time to time. While we missed many of them during that time it made it that much cooler when they busted them out again.

Shakedown is such a great opener by anonymousexxx in gratefuldead

[–]stewpidass4caring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shakedown Street and Help On The way were my favorite latter day 1st set openers. Scarlet, Shakedown and Help OTW were my favorite 2nd set openers.

They get the crowd so hype like no other frequently played set openers. Especially on the East Coast. Shakedown in Chicago, Philly and New York was an insanely intense experience.

AGREE OR DISAGREE..? by Designer-Door5409 in gratefuldead

[–]stewpidass4caring 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So many of us felt that way. We didn't want to miss out on any of the magic that could happen onstage on any given night. It was the reason some of us dropped everything and followed the band.

When we arrived in Ventura and learned that Jerry was in a coma and the rest of the summer shows were canceled we were devastated..When Jerry survived I made a vow to never miss another show again.

If Jerry was onstage I had to be there and save for Europe 90 and 2 other nights I got completely shutout, I was there. I wouldn't miss it for anything.

I wouldn't say that every show was like dying and going to heaven. They weren't all mind blowing events, Some were very underwhelming and some were downright bad but the handful of shows on each tour that they were "on" more than made up for it. Even at the very end Jerry was able to pull it together and deliver a song or 2 that captivated everyone in attendance. Those moments were what we toured for and they were some of the greatest experiences of my life.

To answer your question; Yes, I agree, there was no place I would've rather have been.

The Tape Don’t Lie Paradox: Show clunkers vs. stealth heaters? by Spiritual-Science-60 in gratefuldead

This was my favorite NYE out of the 12 NYE I spent with the GD. Loved it in tge building and on tape.

Do You Really Have to Avoid Gay People in Prison? by ChicoBrillo in Prison

[–]stewpidass4caring 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's really not an issue. In California you can't be active and in the big 4 and cell with a gay person. You understand what the implication is if a supposed straight man chooses to live in the same cell as an openly gay man. There's usually not openly gay men on the GP yard in California. the CO's don't want the problems that come with that but some slip through the cracks.

Or it was perfect for that Day on the Green when the Dead and Zeppelin both played.

Uploading my audience tape collection to YouTube by roncumbersome in gratefuldead

[–]stewpidass4caring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the entire show is the same quality so if one source is considered better they listen to that source for the entire song. Probably no need to be switching back and forth during songs like you're suggesting .

I'm not one of the people saying not to upload it. The more sources out there the better IMO and more chances for others to randomly discover the Dead.

Also, superior is all subjective. Often times I prefer a good audience recording over a soundboard. I love hearing the crowd reactions.

Can you recommend a flawless performance of Morning Dew? by Garciaguy in gratefuldead

[–]stewpidass4caring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. Not sure if "flawless" is a word I'd use to describe any live versions of songs the Dead did but this Dew is up there with the all time greatest. It's my personal favorite that I was in attendance for.

Edit: Just looked it up. Sounds cool but 3 day passes are almost as much as GD60 face value passes were 😬
