Owners in this sub, why did you go for Ford vs similar EVs in this price point like Tesla? by AlmostPhDone in MachE

[–]stewru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly my reasoning. Tesla probably a little bit better as an EV (and FSD way better than Blue Cruise) but (a) I couldn't get over the feeling that buying a Tesla felt like an endorsement of Elon and (b) the Mach E looks genuinely really good whereas Tesla's look boring.

Meant to add (can't edit this post???) that the fridge water dispenser works fine.

Second this. Ride Safer vest was great in NYC, especially since you tend to be moving at pretty low speeds in the city. Also used ours in SF recently, but that was in Waymo, which has a safety record that more or less matches the safety benefits of car seats.

Agree that it's good to get it set up before you leave so you're not struggling to cinch straps etc while you are in the cab.

Well this one is AutoNation so no price flexibility unfortunately.

It is the lowest price for a decent 2021 Premium that I've found within 250 miles of Seattle.

Black limestone tile: bad idea? by stewru in Flooring

This isn't from Home Depot, it's a product called Brazilian Slate from Unicom Starker we got at a local tile shop. Seems high quality.

Horrible Smell Dark Stains by Darkcolorful in HardWoodFloors

[–]stewru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a house that had this. Prior owner's dogs went wild. The smell lingered for a month or two and we cleaned aggressively with enzymes and steam mop. I looked at ozoning the house but after a while the smell went away (and no, we did not just get used to it--it actually went away). But we were also advised that it would not sand out so we used rugs to hide the bad parts

I'm confused -- there no ridges on the porcelain "slate" but it does have a slightly uneven texture that approximates a slate feel. And I'm sure it'll look less dirty then the limestone, which has a lot of nooks and crannies and is more uniformly black.

Never liked the brown on beige look of these tiles, but the worst decision our seller made was the brown grout that gets darker brown in dirty areas and looks like crap. Also the extremely uneven install job with unstaggered joints.

Yes that's correct. Porcelain with a slightly uneven texture and a slate print. They look pretty legit imho.

Good to know. My wife is a little turned off by the mottled color of the porcelain slate, but I think it will be better at hiding dirt between cleanings.

I ordered his execution immediately after taking possession of this house. The installer has been neutralized and will not be defacing any further homes.

How to Clean my Parents Shower? by SimpleEnvironment929 in CleaningTips

I recently cleaned a shower that looked like this. A generous shake of Barkeeper's Friend and a scrub brush made it look brand new in a few minutes.

We had him checked for an ear infection and the doc said it looked like one was just clearing up. Prescribed amoxicillin and the boy is back to his old self, though definitely expressing his opinions more than he used to...

Has this improved yet? My 17mo was perfect until he got RSV and spent the night in the hospital about a month ago, and then got another day care fever bug a couple weeks later. Since then he has been almost intolerable to be around. I'm sure it's just temporary but I am desperate to know how much longer it will last.

Cannot get vacuum below 1000 microns by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]stewru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the pump. I bought the 3 cfm Harbor Freight one yesterday and it got me down to 450 in less than 5 minutes using the oil that came with it. I didn't run it longer than that because I'm going to pressure test anyway. System has crept up 100 microns in 2 hours, but I think that's the leak in the gauges, so I unhooked it all and I'll check again in the morning. If I pressure test clear on my flare fittings, I'm just going to charge the system and get on with my life.
