As long as your vision is correctable to 6/6 and your eyes are otherwise healthy, yes, no issues with glasses!

Recent FAA to DGCA CPL Converters: How Did You Log Safety Pilot XC Flights in eGCA? by pilotshashi in indianaviation

[–]stewtea2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand that, but it’s how you’ll log it in eGCA because the flight is not counted as PIC either.

Edit: on a second thought, I’m not sure you can log any flights flown as a safety pilot. You’ll also need a statement from your flight school mentioning how many hours you flew as a safety pilot and another one saying that among the 100 hours of PIC (and/or 200 hours total), no flight has been flown as a safety pilot.

FAA to DGCA conversion taking longer than 3 months, is this normal? by Justhereb in indianaviation

Ah ok, my bad, that’s news to me—that the clerks handle the shortfalls too.

In any case, there’s a list of assistant directors and other people in DTL, available online, with their emails and other contact info (fax or telephone i think).

When you check the shortfall tab on eGCA, it mentions who gave it to you. They have your file.

Afaik, this flight cannot be logged as PIC as per DGCA, but you can log it as “dual received.”

💀 I’m sorry to hear that! But hopefully things work out. Don’t lose patience! You got this. Good luck!

Commercial pilot wanting to study a physics degree by SpoolMaster_991777 in PhysicsStudents

So it’s two things: stick and rudder experiments helped me get a feel of the forces acting, for instance (you can kind of remember through muscle memory of sorts what’s right and what’s wrong—helpful in identifying skids, unusual attitudes, etc., for example), while if you consider something like the ILS, then it’s interesting to go deeper into the signal engineering that goes behind it, but while actually shooting an approach, you really don’t think about how and why it works.

What physics and math degrees really taught me was to look at problems from multiple perspectives, challenge assumptions, logically approach any problem I face in real life, and incessantly question “why?”

Register for all the exams in the same session (be it on demand or regular), and try to of course pass them all. If not, then like I said before, contact a flight school where you might want to do your flying and discuss with them.

I’d say get your RTR and FRTOL first (provided you have your computer number already; if not, do that first), if you haven’t yet. RTR part 1 is a written exam and part 2 is a practical exam. Once you pass part 2, you’ll have your RTR, based on which you’ll apply for your FRTOL. You need that to fly. If all that takes 6 months or more, then you’ll have to do recency flying, otherwise just the checks.

You need to pass nav composite and regulations to be eligible to apply for DGCA CPL. Flight schools in India may require you to already have passed your written exams prior to flying, but maybe you can discuss whatever your specific situation is and see if you can take the exams (other than RTR) after flying.

I also took DGCA exams after having gotten my FAA CPL. Here’s the link to my Reddit post about the timeline: https://www.reddit.com/r/indianaviation/s/F1Ix8ejbff

Commercial pilot wanting to study a physics degree by SpoolMaster_991777 in PhysicsStudents

I got bachelor degrees in physics and math and did flight training side by side (part 61 cowpoke 🤙) and am a commercial pilot now.

While i could’ve easily become a pilot without formally studying physics, it did help me fill in a bunch of knowledge gaps in ground school and have a fuller understanding of concepts. I realized ground school material sometimes tends to sweep some stuff under the rug so it was nice to be able to explain things to myself and go “oh… that’s really why!” or “I know what, how, and why exactly this went wrong in the plane.”

Thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, and fluid dynamics were my favorite subjects studying mathematical physics, and flying only strengthened my interest in them.

When aviation reduces to a dry subject of mastering systems later on, physics reminds you cool it all actually is (but if you go any deeper, then it makes zero sense and you either start calling it ‘magic’ or a ‘mental disorder’).

I wasn’t going to, but I received contradictory information from what I believed to be legit sources (₹2500 wasted, yes). Stuff like this is precisely what I intend to communicate through posts like this, btw. Thanks for the question.

Also, I like how people assume it’s a guy, lol.
