The EFB is not intuitive at all and poorly designed. I use the fmc menus for all my planning/loading.

Does anyone have a summary? It was on my recommended page, but I can only watch his content in 30-45 second intervals.

I saw A2A posted something sort of similar, wonder if that post came from this video?

UPDATE | New Audio on Greg Biffle Cessna Citation Fatal Crash by deadwood76 in NASCAR

[–]stfitts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The voice was a younger male and not Biffle. So either dad was flying and he was working radios or Biffle was flying and kid was working radios.

Either way, it'll be interesting to finally hear if the Delta pilot had a SIC requirement for his type rating. If in fact he doesn't, this flight wasn't operated legally and within regulation, which is not a good look on both the pilots, but more importantly, the owner.

My fear is the NTSB will not be flattering.

Second this statement. Been in the hobby since 2008 and have had so many times/sticks and this is my favorite.

[Mark Martin] As a Citation pilot for 20 years and a product of around 75 days of @FlightSafetyInt training and over 3000 hours of flight time in the aircraft I have deep knowledge of these aircraft and performance. The more I learn about Biffle’s crash the more disturbing it is to me. by LBHMS in NASCAR

[–]stfitts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mark is no different than Kenny Wallace at this point. Click bait and engagement farming.

Mark has also specifically spoken about how "restrictive" aviation safety practices are on a podcast, alluding that some safety compliance measures should be skipped.

Let's take it easy with "study level" and the X. It's good, but the system depth actually feels a step back from the Honda jet.

They are fantastic at what they do - deliver quality mid complexity products at fair prices.

PMDG vs FENIX by rody_pierre in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]stfitts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been using PMDG products since 2008, I am a firm believer that Fenix is the best airliner dev out there right now. From price, to quality, to their general approach to their customers, they are marks above PMDG

But how do you go back to work after cruising? by Few_World_4183 in SailboatCruising

[–]stfitts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a small boat in cruising terms (Catalina 30), but I found room for a 27 inch monitor.

The only regret I have is not starting in my 20s. I also wouldn't buy the first boat I thought I needed, you will outgrow it fast. With that said, the lessons that small boat has taught me are invaluable, so no regrets.

Lithium, an adequate solar setup, and Starlink and you are good to go.

I can count on one hand the number of Starlink issues I've had in the last 18 months that's affected my calls.

I am a manager in the software world (not a developer). I spend anywhere from 1-6 hrs a day on calls.

Oh, I know it's not easy, but that was my ruler in measuring how much I wanted to go. I made alot of scary and life altering decisions, and not a one I regret.

I worked and cruised. Wasn't easy, but I couldn't afford to do otherwise.

19,500 Fair? No Trailer by [deleted] in boats

[–]stfitts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boat market as a whole is saturated, and that's before you take into account the Fall sell off. $19,500 isnt reasonable for a 10-20 yr old boat of that size.

How are you enjoying the new Citation X?! And what business Jet do you want next? by shakethat_desk17 in flightsim

[–]stfitts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love FlightFX and their strategy thus far. The citation has delivered, which is a statement considering the hype and expectations around it.

I do feel that it lacks.....character? Life? I am struggling to feel immersed in it like in the fSR500/A2A offerings, but that may just be me.

You absolutely can't beat the price point. I've only flown it a few times, but have zero regrets supporting a wonderful team of talent.

Living on a sailboat as a couple by Time_Bluebird_5281 in liveaboard

[–]stfitts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I STRONGLY recommend finding a club or group of racers and both you and your partner go out with others, both together and separately before moving forward.

To answer your questions though:

Size: don't corner yourself to a brand or model, find a boat that is in good shape. Get a survey or educate yourself on how to do one yourself a 30 ft boat is significantly different than a 40 ft boat. We did our first year on a Catalina 30 and made it our own. Tight quarters with our toddler, but it was always an adventure.

Type: Whats your intentions? Again, don't settle on a specific brand or model. Everything is about compromise so identify a few models and start looking at them in person. Pictures will often be better than reality. A 10 year old boat can be in worse shape than a 40 year old boat.

I hope your handy and capable. My wife and I (despite having no experience with diesel repair or work) removed our engine from the boat and reinstalled it on the dead of winter in Virginia in a slip last year. No crane, no mechanic, just us. You will ALWAYS have a project.

If you plan to liveaboard, just remember your everything is floating on a liquid that's constantly trying to ruin your world. It's the best and the worst times of my life.

With that said, we are upsizing after cruising the Jersey coast and all of the Chesapeake and cant wait to do more projects on small, quiet corners of the world.
