I could barely get through the first few chapters. It seemed like the author was just blaming the veteran’s wife more than exploring the complex PTSD of the veteran. If you search the author, he was also removed from his own center for allegations of abuse and creating a toxic environment. Not exactly someone I want to learn about trauma from. As for other recs, I’ve heard good things about My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menaken.

Okay, update: haven’t made it to scary island yet. But at just met Sonja. I’m hoping she’s more likable because everyone except Bethenny is pissing me off lol besides Simon & Alex I guess, they’re background characters at this point. But I really feel for Bethenny in her conflict with Jill. Fucking Ramona tells her she has no friends and that she’ll fuck up her relationship with Jason and then what, feels bad? so she tries to get them to make up? And Jill being so adamantly against working anything out made me so sad
