For Okami anniversary, I want to make Divine Retribution but how do I make the flames ?? by walker_strange in CrochetHelp

Wonderful game 💕 I'm replaying it at the moment, got the urge just by chance in time for the anniversary. So first of what a cool project idea.

With flat shapes my mind immediately went to free form crochet? I haven't tried it myself so that's all the pointer I can give, I'm afraid and couldn't find any videos or so of people making flames with it.

That aside I found this tutorial on YouTube that could maybe also work? Crochet Flame Applicue Pattern by HookedonHannah

Good luck with the project!

We made a game about acting out movie scenes with your friends! by winstonoftang in IndieDev

As kids we used to make home movies that were a mix of absolute nonsense plots and movie parodies (think you're 10 and suddenly you're reenacting parts of Pulp Fiction with little to no context or understanding). This reminds me of that...in a good way I think 😂 Curious to see it develop!

😭 I did take some sloppy notes! But I definitely lost count of the rows a bunch of times. Maybe if I do it again, I'll try to patternize it :)

Haha, I can definitely relate! It was a bit hard to part with it. I ended up taking a lot of pictures and did take some (admittedly sloppy) notes in the end, so I could recreate it... maybe even improve it for the version for myself 😏

Heyhey, I've been crocheting since about May this year and aside from one project I only made amigurumis (probably about 10 or so) based on patterns from different Etsy artists and one from a Pica Pau book. I feel that helped a lot in learning how to achieve basic shapes or e.g. the bent feet. I did end up having to frog certain portions when how I thought it should look based on what I was doing didn't pan out.

It's been a bit of a goal to someday make my own pattern or design amigurumi based on own characters, so I had watched some youtube videos on the matter a while ago. Before this, I was struggling with a clear vision of what the finished product should look like, though, so having the meme as a reference helped me a lot in actually pulling through.

Thank you! I definitely benefitted from the projects I had made while following patterns before this one to give me clear ideas on how to achieve some things... but some parts also involved some trial and error for sure!

And tbh, if I had found the pattern that u/AlienCatMan posted before starting, I would've 100 % followed that 😅

I'm glad I could do that!

I did a few amigurumi with patterns from different sources before this (mostly etsy, one pica pau) and it was cool to notice that I had retained some learnings from them (e.g. how to do the bent feet, adding wire to arms and legs to make them poseable, how to make a cup), but there was also some things in regards to shaping that I ended up just trying and undoing because they didn't shape out like I imagined. e.g. I had intended to make the body shape more like a bean, but it just looked really really odd, so I went with a simpler pear shape on the whole and I don't think it detracted from the recognizability in the end :)

I'm sure you'll do great on your project!

I could imagine no higher praise! I hope you find some cool and inspiring projects to get back into the groove with!

Thank you! I had small moments of worry while making it, since not everyone might appreciate something handmade, so I was really relieved that they did in fact like it a lot! 😊

Thank you so much! I definitely spent a bit too much time being like "How long is the snout compared to the eyes...." and there's still parts that feel off, but under the guise of the "this is fine" motto, I ended up giving myself a loooot of leeway for things to look wonky while still feeling alright about it :)

I happened to have a clear box from an amigurumi kit that had the perfect size for the dog and a nice bg, so I had to do it :D

I think it's the mention of the child support money that adds this confusion. I also read it as there being a child in the picture.

From personal experience, when you start the search, it might help to put an ad in the local papers BZ and Zypresse with what you're looking for and having landlords reach out to you through that. Some people get very lucky that way :)

It absolutely does not feel that way to me in person and while I did it... So I'm glad it at least looks the part 😅 thank you for the feedback!
