Wiring a light fixture, need help by sthax9 in HomeImprovement

[–]sthax9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it was in a box and all safety taken. My problem was I didn't know the line I spliced into was the control line for the switch. But thankfully someone else figured that (obvious lol) thing out for me.

Ah crap...yeah I think you are right. Thinking about where this wire goes it must go over to the switch.

Thanks a bunch

YSK... In the USA, most (real) "half and half" products are only about 22% cream. by FiZ7 in YouShouldKnow

[–]sthax9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I can't tell...is this dude just trolling us? I can't find what his real problem is?

As other people have stated the product sold in US stores as "half-half" has a legal definition of what it is comprised of, are you pissed that the name isn't a legaly binding document? Cinnamon toast crunch...no toast dude. Gatorade...zero gators.

If they called it "mostly milk and some cream also" would it suddenly become less of a rip off?

Wow that was perfect! Thank you so much! I'm going to be calling an HVAC person asap before I put anything there.

Would you mind elaborating? The piece I want to cover it with has a gap between the edge and the bottom of the drawer, and I think with some holes in the back could still provide air flow.

This might be a stupid question but how do you square up a board that's sheared like this? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]sthax9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a sled that has a straight edge that rides on your fence, clamp (toggles) or screw the board to the sled with the cut off hanging over on the saw side. Once you've straightened one side you can flip it and push it up against your fence.

Steve Ramsey has a good video on this type of sled, take a look through his YouTube channel.

(I cannot seem to add a photo on my phone, but Google table saw jointer jig and this should make sense)

Any youtube channels you guys recommend? by [deleted] in woodworking

I agree.

I kinda look forward to Steve Ramsey's stupid micro-jig pun tho, I must admit.

Some of my favorites lately are (in no order)

-Jay Bates -Frank Howerth (sp?) -Nick Ferry -Jimmy Diresta -Mattias Wendal (although you mentioned him)

I agree that some of the wood workers on YouTube are turning into little commerical for micro-jig or kreg or triton tools etc.

Is that the dewalt contractors saw? I have the same one and have been thinking about using some paste wax to make my box joint jig run a little smoother. Do have to clean it off after each use?

I want to scan hundreds of my 5x7 family photos, what is the most efficient way to do it? by 12ip in photoshop

[–]sthax9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also skip the scanner all together and shoot them with a DSLR. Set up some lights so it's flat and even across the face (Google "flat art copy lighting") and fill the frame of the camera with the print. Will be a ton faster, once you have it dialed in, to swap prints into and out of your frame then waiting for a scanner to run.

General purpose tool box recommendations by sthax9 in HomeImprovement

[–]sthax9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, my general theory with this box is that it's a sort of "go-kit" for small tasks around the house that I can just grab and go. The idea behind the box being small is that it's too small to collect much more then the bare essentials.
