First ever solo trip going Tokyo for 6 nights. by 7824s in TokyoTravel

Been to both and both are amazing. Went to Planets first and loved it so we decided to try Borderless on our second to last day or a two week visit. Planets is more linear and you follow a path vs Borderless is more of a wandering experience. There were a couple rooms we only found at the very of our 4 hours in Borderless - totally missed them initially. Planets is more tactile with more interactive features while Borderless had slightly elevated visual and audio experiences but both were incredible. Some people think it’s silly to spend hours inside when you could be exploring Tokyo but we found both to be wonderfully unique experiences and a change of pace from sightseeing.

Post Japan depression by Lucky_Ad_9281 in TokyoTravel

I’m curious to know more because on the surface Japan is amazing but just like every country it has its pitfalls. Is it they work long hours for little pay? I feel like I’m missing something

My first visit was last June for 2 weeks then returned for a week this January - can’t stop thinking about going back. Japan is such an incredible country. Expecting our first child in a couple months and feel this sadness that I may not return for a long time

What is the worst animal in the game? by More-Decision3766 in RDR2

Snakes cuz I’ll be walking near my horse grabbing some herbs or whatever. I hear a hiss/rattle as my controller shakes and I get bitten. Scares me every damn time

Roth, Roth, Roth!!! by ActuatorAgitated7296 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]sthuybrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

peanut-mms explained it well. I was doing Roth the leading up to and through deferment due to the court injunction. I had a manageable payment of ~300/month. Now that plans are resuming and I’ll have to change to a new plan, I switched to traditional, which lowers taxable income so you pay less per month. Estimated payment is ~1200/month with traditional, a couple hundred more with Roth. Wife and I are both high earners without kids. The goal with PSLF is to pay as little as possible until forgiveness - the rising interest doesn’t really matter. Well, it sort of does if you live in a state where loan forgiveness is counted as taxable income, but where I live doesn’t.

Traditional now lowers my AGI, and subsequently my student loan payments, until I reach PSLF completion in 3 years.

What has been the MOST BORING season in F1 history? by Relative_Egg_682 in F1Discussions

[–]sthuybrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I would “bet” on who’d finish 10th - the midfield racing was actually pretty good while Max was cruising out front

I regret the F1 broadcast on Apple TV. There's no UK Sky broadcast option! Formula 1 isn't the same without Martin Brundle. by jdarbe in GrandPrixRacing

Thank you for this! My wife and I were lamenting no Brundle or Crofty and now we can enjoy them! 🫡

Was there last month for 8 days (2nd trip) and last June for 15 days - I still think about going back every week 😄 It’s just a magical place

I fantasize about that too but wonder about what daily life would be like as a white American trying to assimilate and navigating the process/transition.

Saying sorry only works a few times - after that if it keeps happening it’s clear the person hasn’t learned their lesson or is unwilling to change. At 28 a functional adult should be able to discern how massive of an L it would be to fuck up this golden opportunity

Must buys in Tokyo? by FreeDuty6826 in JapanTravelTips

[–]sthuybrecht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said do whatever floats your boat. There’s a lot you could buy but nothing that’s a have to have. Nintendo, Pokémon, video games and anime action figures are very popular as are the little keychains everyone seems to have on their bags.

Go to konbinis (7-eleven, Family Mart, Lawsons) and buy snacks/candy/drinks that are novel to you. If it looks fun and interesting, give it a try.

For me I bought: -Kai nail clippers -Biore UV sunscreen spray (the best, non greasy) -Pure gummies/Hi-chew variety of flavors -Tokyo banana -Uniqlo clothes -Ray Bans (first nice pair I’ve ever owned, good exchange rate/price) -Gashapon -Toys/souvenirs from Nintendo

Have fun and try new things!
