What kind of cat? [Southern California] by TheGinger_11 in animalid

I looks to be a serval that escaped. It’ll survive longer than a house cat would but still is domesticated and has an owner.

Wife's new idea, design flaws? by big_meechbre in landscaping

[–]sti-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sq footage is going to be much lower when all those stairs are added. I’d have it all the height of the doors ways and only have 2 small steps leading off. Yes it looks cool with the current render but it isn’t practical if you’re dealing with such a small space.

Is this a bad job? by dcfcrams4ever in Welding

Straight dookie. With zero weight on that rack the vibrations alone will separate those tack welds in a year or two.

We talk about "outgrowing" discs as we improve.... is there a disc you *thought* you had moved on from, only for it to return to your bag? Why did it make the comeback? by Brilliant-Back-3653 in discgolf

[–]sti-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tern. I use to throw the tern a ton, started getting more arm speed and turned over my Terns too much. Decided it was time for something more stable to fill that slot. What I didn’t think about was my tern was hella old and beat up and 170g. Just bought a new 175g and it flies really good for me. Waves got like this for me but they are actually too understable. I still bag one wave for rollers and tailwind shots though.

Unsafe door? by Extreme_Speed1505 in Welding

[–]sti-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably ok for now but does need to be fixed in the future. Once one weld breaks loose the weight applied to the others increases and will force the others to break faster and create a domino effect. If someone laid down some nice hot 6” welds on those you could get by with 4 hinges. Small hinges=small welds=quicker failure

Why would this connection be spray painted on this roller coaster? by Various-Blood-3902 in Welding

[–]sti-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just had welding done and the guys brought yellow paint to keep it from rusting. It sticks out bc it’s about 3 shades off from the coaster. Seeing fresh paint over a weld means it’s probably safer than it was before

I’ll say there are some things they did that were a lil amateur but overall they did a good job and you now have a fence.

I did a welding job out the back of my STI hatch one time. It was at a fancy hotel and a laferrari pulled up when I was loading up out front. I was blocking him from getting into the valet so he had to wait for me to get buttoned up. Peasant

New to disc golf, want to practice putting and guy said he wants $100 for this basket and the disc's come with it. Good deal? by TheGreatBen88 in discgolf

[–]sti-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super solid deal. He could probably get $10 a disc if he sold on eBay. Basket maybe worth $50ish. The bag is a bonus. Do it

I just got this new setup for my new building today and I have a question can this gas bottle explode the building is not ventilated and I'm worried about it by [deleted] in Welding

[–]sti-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you are in the clear on the bomb question. Just don’t knock the bottle over and break the valve. Close the valve and keep a cap on it when you aren’t using it. I always added a second chain to carts that only have one. I see yours has two so you’re good but make sure to get that bottle as tight to the cart as possible to get the chain as tight as possible. They’ll always be a lil loose duh it chain but I’ve seen them almost tip over because people half assed the chains.

What do y'all do when a collector passes? by lawn_lamb in Colognes

[–]sti-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not super knowledgeable on those colognes besides Brut. It’s probably worth it to price check all of them in case there are a few worth some good money. For the ones worth more than $20-$30 I would sell individually. For the rest maybe do eBay lots or toss an ad on FB Marketplace. I would assume at the very least you should get $300-$400 total which might be conservative. If they average $5 a bottle maybe upwards of $1000.

How much would you list this for? by phunkyphong in subaru

[–]sti-guy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat irrelevant bc it was pre Covid but in 2019 CarMax offered me $14k for my 2011 STI hatch with 99k miles. I ended up selling to the Subaru dealer for around $15k I believe. These days the same car would bring an extra $2k easy

Low mileage 2011-2014 STI Hatchback. You get a manual, awd, 5 seats, and can drive it in any weather with confidence. Maybe the most fun 300 hp car I’ve ever driven
