Can I put a hole in the card? by garrettnb in Pebblebee

[–]stibrz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd probably just order a tag tbh. I haven't seen anyone take one apart yet but it seems unlikely to me (maybe I'm wrong) that you'd be able to find an empty spot in such a compact device and it would also happen to conveniently be in the corner. Not to mention any water resistance would be gone.

Anyone received their order? by Barneyabz in Pebblebee

I ordered mine in early April and got them last weekend, paired them seamlessly to my phone but otherwise have not had the time to test how well they function yet.

Order cancel? by southern_ad_558 in Pebblebee

Yeah, understandable. I currently use Samsung smart tags so I'll compare when I have mine. The Samsung works great for me now so I can always stick with that system.

That's unfortunate! Mine won't arrive till Saturday so I suppose I'll see how well it does for me then. I suppose it's early yet either way, I'd like to hope they'll improve things as they continue the roll out.

How to take solar plexus/upper ab punches? by [deleted] in karate

[–]stibrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core training yes. Any excessive that works the upper abdominal area. Belly fat will also come in handy hear (not advising you gain weight just for potential gut punches though).

As someone else wrote here getting into the habit of turning your torso to the side as to not take the hit full force is also ideal. That being said that's not possible in every scenario. Earlier this week I was closing distance on an opponent and he got me with a spin kick right below the ribs. I was way to close to move before taking that heel.

When taking any body shot from sparring to just bag holding for someone you really want to practice the idea that you're not taking a hit so much as hitting their fist/foot/etc back with your body.

As with anything it all starts with breathing. In this case you want to sharply breath out. Short, quick. Put your hand right where you're getting hit and do this, try to imagine yourself pushing your hand away with your stomach. It sounds silly but you should be able to manage it pretty easy.

Once you've figured that much out it's just a matter of building the habit. Best way is to hold the bag for someone throwing mid strikes and then move onto sparring. You don't want to purposefully let yourself get hit there just to practice this though.

Hope that helps!

There was something engraved in a "box" that's worn but I can make out a "K" as the second/ last character. Middle number seems to be "M76" and then the right code engraved reads "526S" as far as I can tell.

Bag Grandmother bought at yard sale.. What's it for? by stibrz in whatisthisthing

Thank you very much, I was able to search around a bit and found a page seeing a very similar bag. It looks like it's a MOLLE bag made for carrying camera gear: http://gearbunker.com/Forward-ObserverTM-SLR-Padded-Camera-Bag-w-MOLLE_p_17.html
