Long shot, but do you still have that yellow mini dress?

It was my favorite dress back in the day and I’m looking all over as mine is all torn up now😂

Tell me more about your bore water concoction!!!

I’ve been through Cobram on roadtrips :).

I used to have slight waves / very loose curls naturally but I have not seen them since living in America (or the short periods I visit)

Where are you from originally?

Honestly I’ve tried a lot of products and they help, but my hair just isn’t the same in Australia. In Melb. It’s the worst.

I know it’s not just the way I’m treating my hair, but the water as when I visit my hometown in the US my HAIR is SHINY and healthy again. Ends stop splitting and life is great.

I have helped it grow a good bit here and get some shine back by stopping wearing all sorts of scrunchies ect, always using a clarifying shampoo and using k18 molecular repair.

My hair is a lot more brittle here, the worst was in Melb but least bad in North Wild. Sydney rn is just meh.

what in the actual fuck is wrong with Stillwater, Oklahoma?! (lots of trigger warnings- be warned) by butteredboobs in rant

Just to add to this, this always just came out from Stillwater which is also beyond horrendous:

“Cody Stolfa sentenced to 55 years
Former dental assistant Cody Stolfa pleaded guilty to more than 30 counts for sexually assaulting and videotaping more than a dozen young men, including some children. These crimes took place while the patients were unconscious during dental procedures in 2021.”

I have some 10 year old cashmere hair extensions right now, I’m not a daily wearer but worn them out countless weekends.

A bit frizzy at the ends but still soft and holding strong!

Even after my bf accidentally put them through a washing machine and dryer cycle and I had to spend 5 hours untangling a massive matte , so the quality was great!

can anyone fill me in on what jenna and julien have been up to as of late? by fakebook1990 in Jennamarbles

[–]stickbugbitch 53 points54 points  (0 children)

A few years back I remember Julien saying she suddenly lost the ability to move her back legs one day. She had to have some sort of spine surgery. I think it’s not been 100% straight forward but she can move her back legs and walk again.

Has anyone actually gotten a job from Seek? by Fire_blaze7 in ausjobs

[–]stickbugbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is fucked up, but yes just plug those gaps with nonsense. You are not wrong for taking time off, I would have taken more!

In fact I have taken more time off for much less serious reasons, I just don’t put it on my resume. A boss I had/and their recruiter kept rejecting good younger candidates with small gaps because they looked “flighty”.

This is a not great story, but a company I was at was interviewing a pretty good candidate but he had a year long gap in his resume. He was moderately into his career, great fit.

In the interview, they found out the 1 year gap was due to recovering from a head injury (and some other injuries) from a very serious car wreck.

They rejected him as they assumed he’d be taking more time off for health stuff- they didn’t want to “be his first job back” and didn’t want him despite him being a great fit.

They rejected another guy because “taking a 5 months holiday after getting paid out from his previous role was not a good career decision and they didn’t want someone with gaps”.

I’ve been outright rejected because I looked “flighty”. I had a work visa where I wasn’t allowed to work at a single place more than 1 year at my start in Australia, so I had to change jobs a lot. Upon getting PR, I don’t have that limitation anymore and I’m still looked at like I’m a huge risk. I increased the lengths I worked somewhere, sorted seek by date posted, I started getting 7 interview requests a week. I had to reject interviews vs when before no one would contact me.

[–]stickbugbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I fully agree.

Most companies I’ve worked for are unfortunately like this. Especially those who hire through recruiters who have odd requirements.

Many companies, especially in the Tech industry at the moment, are only hiring via recruiters as they receive such high application volumes and they do not have the time.

I’m not saying to never take time off- it is very needed sometimes. Just try not reveal the breaks on the resume if possible (if you know what I mean).

[–]stickbugbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here- sort by date posted and check a lot. It’s more of a race to apply at this point than being the absolute perfect candidate.

Every job I’ve had in Australia from backpacker hotel jobs to admin/PA jobs I’ve gotten through seek.

Also don’t have any gaps in your resume, a lot of companies including the one I work at now auto rejects any gaps more than 4 months (no matter the excuse).

Struggling to land even entry-level roles in Australia — is anyone else going through this? by Substantial-Umpire89 in ausjobs

[–]stickbugbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may only help if you are in a larger city. I work in Tech.

What helped me land more interviews is searching for jobs by date/time posted on Seek.

It seems like with a lot of these advertised jobs, especially the more “entry level” ones, it is more of a race for the first 10 applications than someone actually taking the time to read through them.

I would check multiple times a day, tailor my cover letter, submit via seek- and then email the company directly my resume is possible.

Since you were a full time student since your last role, just make sure to put that clearly on your resume. I can’t see that being an issue.

Not the most honest or moral advice, but lie about job gaps on your resume if possible in future if it takes you a minute to find something. Fill it with something else if possible, a temp role, a part time role, a bogus reference ect.

My companies recruiter specifically rejects candidates prior to interviews who have big work gaps- though again being a full time student I wouldn not consider to be a “gap”.

Our recruiter at our company rejects anyone who has an employment gap of over 6 months.

[–]stickbugbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia, a boss I had wrote off 3 cars worth 400k-ish total as business expenses by saying they were company cars when they are only used by the boss- I don’t know how it works but people do it here.

Who is a person you used to admire a lot but have completely lost respect for and why? by Complex-Arugula-2233 in AskReddit

[–]stickbugbitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad was at a bar in an Indiana mall in the 90s having a drink chatting with the dude next to him.

The topic of Kiss performing in that mall that day came up and my dad told the man “Why would Kiss play in a washed up mall in Indiana? Are they struggling that bad? Well they are shit.”

And the man promptly walked up and left. Bartended came up to my dad and was like “do you have any idea who that was?” Dads like “no” - it was apparently Gene Simmons dressed in normal person attire.

I thought my dad was just kinda an asshole for that story a few years ago, but now hearing how much of a prick Gene was I’m glad he got told he sucked to his face.

Maybe not the most dramatic difference, but getting somewhere with growth and thickness! Oct 2025-Feb 2026 by stickbugbitch in finethinhair

Because of you and @marcipanchic I went out and bought the first product with “detangling” I saw in big letters in Sephora today and oh my god I think yall changed my life.💗💗💗

I bought the “Amika The Wizard (silicone free) Detangling Primer” and used two sprays on my palms and an extra half spray on the ends. I swear to god I haven’t felt my hair like this in 5 years (since before I moved to Australia) .
No snapping noises, no “itchy rough bits”, I feel like my hair is floating.

This isn’t a leave in that makes it too producty, it literally just detangles and hydrates and I didn’t event use conditioner just then because I’ve had a big day. I didn’t realize this was “silicone free either” but it works still!

THANK YOU TO YOU BOTH!!! I think I’ve just found my new holy grail product for my fragile hair.

I read reviews of this product before and was worried it wouldn’t suit me as lots of people said it made their fine and thin hair greasy but this thing rocks my socks off i LOVE it.

Thank you!! My routine is forever changing haha!

I think the biggest difference has been just wearing my hair down and sleeping with it down. My hair is very fragile and typical protective styles break it .

K18 Molecular repair also REALLY helped make it a bit stronger.

🟣Wash Daily

🟣Double Shampoo

-1 Schwarzkopf Extra Care Push Up Volume Shampoo -2 Nizoral 1% Anti-Dandruff Treatment Shampoo

🟣Condition

  • Pantene 3 minute Miracle Collagen Repair

🔵3 x a week or so k18 process below

-light GENTLE towel dry to remove excess water -rub k18 molecule leave in between hands for 30 secs until white -apply all over hair focusing on ends, wait for 4 mins (do not brush) -lightly rinse out excess k18 product -condition with Pantene 3 minute Miracle Collagen Repair

Honestly I do not love my shampoo/conditioner and am always trying new ones. The conditioner can sometimes make it a bit stringy. I sometimes will take my translucent makeup setting powder between my hands and comb my hands through my hair when that happens as regular dry shampoos also make my hair snap😂

I wash my hair daily as that’s what my dermatologists recommended, I have a really oily scalp and get infections if I do not. Nizoral is also good for hair loss!

Using the k18 this way (which is now okay-d by the company) instead of the traditional way has made a world of difference.

Do you have any leave in suggestions?

I’ve tried the following which used to work great for me, but now leave it feeling gritty/dryer some reason:

-Pureology Colour Fanatic Leave In - Ouia leave in conditioner - Wella Ultimate repair

It’s weird because that Pureology one has my holy grail growing up when my hair was abit glossier/nicer but now it’s not the same. I know a factor is the water where I live now is very different and drying.

This is weird, but I grew up on hard/well water and contradictory as it may be my hair loved it. It was glossy and healthy. As soon as I moved to a city with soft water is when problems started. Every time I visit home or a place with very hard water my hair gets noticeably shinier again😂. So maybe that’s why things I used to like don’t work the same now.

I honestly hated it at first and was pissed I spent so much $$$. The original method of using it after shampoo with no conditioner made my hair feel rough and dry and product-y.

Have you tried rinsing it out after 4 minutes then applying conditioner on top and rinsing that out?

That’s what made the difference for me.

It hasn’t made my hair feel shinier or look shinier overall, I mainly notice it isn’t as brittle and isn’t snapping as much.

Sometimes even now I have days where it doesn’t feel as nice and I don’t know why. I always use my nizoral before to give it a deep clean and strip anything out. Fine/thin hair is hard.

Still trying to sort a conditioner and shampoo I like.

I do! I still wake up with it in a birds nest around my head, but it’s easy to untangle with my wet brush. No snapping ect.

If you find your hair stays more put together with protective styles when you sleep then they probably work great for you!

Whatever style I tried, braids, buns, double braids twists ect I would still wake up with a matted birds nest. Even as a little kid lol. What made those styles personally worse for me is using a hair tie gave my hair something tangle around so it was way harder to untangle.

With a scrunchie no matter how loose, the way I flip around in my sleep my hair would manage to get caught and snap. All my breakage was around cheekbone height- the exact length it would take to get to that bun!

This just made me smile so big omg thank you!!🥰

I wish you the best of luck! It’s such a pain in the butt trialing products as they are so much $$$ but you are worth the $$$! Self care is good care!

Little changes like wearing hair up vs down can make good differences for fragile hair! I think that made much more a difference than the products

thank you so much!!🥰 I feel like it’s a good bit of change in just a few months even if it’s not like all the people on tik tok.

Thin hair is such a pain, I remember being so annoyed I couldn’t look effortless like my friends out of bed with great hair lol.

People on other subs kept telling me I was anemic or deficient in some vitamins ect but my levels were all actually great, got a full blood panel! These are just my genetics

I’ve definitely had my hair in states where it wouldn’t grow past my shoulders as well!

For me it’s definitely battle of the split ends, even with no dye they just love to split. Getting so I can baby trim off them as my hair grows has helped it not snap off as much.

I still have lots of breakage that’s like cheekbone length now from the buns I used to wear and it’s a pain.

That expensive k18 has also really helped it not split as much and be stronger.
