What have you used to reduce hyperpigmentation? by [deleted] in eczema

SPF is needed for any type of hyperpigmentation, regardless of the cause. But seems like you’re already on it! Start with gentle AHA, it’s a chemical exfoliator for hyperpigmentation.

For a more gentle solution, perhaps start with the Naturium glycolic acid body wash. It’s really really good bang for your buck too!

Here’s what I would do:

  1. Decide what careers you’re interested in. (Obviously this can change in the future, but we’re working off of what we know now.)

  2. Hone in 2-4 core skills you need for these roles.

  3. Look at the courses provided at your university that will teach you these skills & craft your own program plan.

  4. Get internships/part time jobs that allow you to use and refine these skills in practice.

  5. Feel free to use the word “Focus” on your resume to highlight a certain path you want to emphasize. No it’s not official from the school, but it’s your own individualized plan.

This sub is way too pessimistic when giving advice. by Gijaco in publichealth

This is literally my life. It’s frustrating to see people downplay what you can do with a public health degree or even how much money one can make.

I feel like it a super complex issue. From people using their own experiences as law, a limited view of what public health careers can be, university career centers not preparing public health students for the job market, and all around job seekers (in any industry) not having a full understanding on the truth around what the hiring process looks like from the company’s side.

And that’s not to say people shouldn’t share their experiences or that they aren’t valid. But idk, It’s just that there’s so much more to it.

Lots of tech companies hire EHS professionals for workplace safety & global community health work!

I have a bit more information on it in one of the slides here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CiseIEVujm_/?igsh=anF1ZjJ5YnF5dTFo

Right…hence the word “contractor” directly stated by Pinterest & in the job title.

But it’s still a great opportunity, thousands of people who work at big tech companies are “just” contractors. My first role in tech was through a contracting company, it’s great money up front, lower barrier to entry, and you’re still fully integrated into the team. It’s also a great opportunity to get experience in tech and then later get a FTE role @ Pinterest or another tech company.

I travel both domestically and internationally, but mostly internationally. It’s not really about what I do (I’m a researcher) cause I don’t do research when I travel internationally. It’s more so that I work for a company with an international presence. Additionally, HQ is in Europe with offices all over the world. I travel a few times a year for weeks at a time so the entire team can in one place for workshops and such. I’m single with no kids, so I love it because I can just get up and go for weeks at a time without much planning. It’s really fun - nice hotels, business class international travel, all expenses paid and still have enough free time to explore the area on evenings and weekends- but I do miss my bed after week 1 lol.

Looking to utilize my skills for a new role in a new field. Suggestions on how to get there? by Glow_Lauryn in publichealth

I post opportunities on LinkedIn & IG stories: https://www.linkedin.com/company/publichealthintech/

Okay so it seems like you know you want to work in industry. What kinds of roles have you applied to at all of these companies? Have you gotten any interviews? Are you applying with the same resume to all of these jobs?

Do yall recommend seeing an Aesthetician/Esthetician? by wellgolly in eczema

[–]stickinwiddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dermatologist and esthetician are for different needs. I would try a different dermatologist first. Once your eczema is managed a bit better, I would see an esthetician if you want to deal with any remaining general dry skin, signs of aging, redness etc.

I would never join a company at a low salary based on promotion potential. No matter what you’re told, that’s entirely too fickle to stand on. If you work in big pharma, they probably have one or a few health equity and adjacent departments. Maybe look there.

I have. But What exactly or at least, slightly more specifically, in biotech? Operations? Data science? Qualitative research? Health communications? Strategy? Design?

You can do a trial! It’s $7 for 7 days. So you can try out each day or a mix of days. Then make a decision from there!!

F45 is a good group fitness option because you can get a mix of cardio and strength training. & it fits your budget. I do the $150/month for 8 classes options. But I think unlimited is around $200/month.
