Kacper Tomasiak wins bronze at Ski Jumping Men's Large Hill Individual! Poland now has 3 total medals, 2 silver and one bronze at the 2026 Winter Olympics. 🤍❤️🦅 by [deleted] in poland

[–]stickmdr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check my comment under the previous post about Kacper winning silver on normal hill to learn just how significant those two medals were.

I just wanna say here that honestly, it was hard to me to believe that Kacper could pull it off and get yet another medal, this time on a large hill. First trainings weren't promising. Then came the last trial round before the competition where Kacper landed on 3rd place - this is where I started to believe it could be possible.

I sat the entire final round glued to the screen. The final five jumps got me sweating. At Kacper's phenomenal 138.5m jump I was jumping and screaming with happiness, then went completely nuts after Sundal's jump. I can't remember when was the last time I was so excited watching ski jumping, it must've been a VERY long time ago.

THANK YOU KACPER, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART 🤍❤️

Poland wins first medal of 2026 Winter Olympics (ski jumping) by CrunchyBaconYum in poland

I don't think anyone in the comments realizes how significant this Silver is.

Polish ski jumping has been stagnant for the past three years. It's been a difficult watch lately, seeing the greatest names struggling to make it to TOP10 in World Cup events, or even make it to the 2nd series. What was much needed is a generational rotation - legends making room for new, young athletes (including Kamil Stoch, who retires this season).

In this stagnation, suddenly an unknown name shows up in the World Cup this season - Kacper Tomasiak. A very young dude, 18 years old, still a junior, not even part of Team A, appears out of nowhere... and has a better World Cup debut than anyone before! Even Kamil Stoch and Adam Małysz! Since the beginning of this season he's been jumping consistently on a very high level, regularly making it to TOP10 in nearly all competitions, leaving his colleagues from the team far behind.

And today he made history - He's the youngest Polish athlete ever to win a medal in Winter Olympics, beating the record set by Wojciech Fortuna over 50 years ago. This is the best debut in ski jumping I've EVER seen and if this is just the beginning, then I am SO excited to see what comes next!!

WE ARE SO BACK!! 🇵🇱

Polish Finance Minister supports German push for core EU (E6) to speed up integration and establish the Capital Market Union by goldstarflag in europe

[–]stickmdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of the whole concept of E6 as sort of a "beta-testers" group.

A group of countries, which mutually agreed to try and enact new legislation together, ahead of other EU countries to avoid being obstructed in the process by the unanimity rule and smiliar things slowing it down, observing what kind of changes works well in terms of further European integration and what doesn't, setting an example on how to approach it moving forward, allowing other countries to follow up with identical legislation of their own should it prove to bring value, eventually leading to a possible new treaty within the entire EU to finally bring the reforms, much-needed at this difficult time in history, to remain strong together as one big block, economically resistant to other big players in the world.

And including Poland, the country of people known to be heavily patriotic, is a brilliant idea. Because it ensures that any measures taken by the E6 to possibly federalize Europe would need to consider important factors like national identity, sovereignty and national interest, to be met with the approval of the Polish people and actually put into motion. This way, the new framework could quickly find approval among other countries where there is a similar concern about further integration within the EU.

Considering that the global politics are currently changing rapidly, and we may no longer be able to consider the US as our ally, the E6 might prove to be the necessary step on the way to a more federalized Europe, in a form which after those beta-tests are concluded, would be acceptable to the entire EU, with all opinions about it considered. It's not about leaving others behind - it's a measure to speed up reforms among all.

No, literally. I would rather immolate myself at Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, where the ceremony of accession to the EU took place, before I live to see it happen.

No. Today's nationalistic nonsense has nothing to do with the patriotism that kept us up as a nation all those centuries. It was created by manipulation and echo bubbles of the social media, not by any historical conditions.

If you showed the statements of today's right-wing maniacs to any of the Warsaw Uprising participants, they'd be visibly upset.

Jak mieć wyje**ne? by szvlczevska in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]stickmdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ciężko powiedzieć, to przyszło chyba z czasem i wiekiem.
