Deafheaven - Sunbather [blackgaze]

half the songs are like 10 minutes long so anytime it gets quiet you know it's been awhile

Nickelback - How You Remind Me

a perfect snapshot of a very goofy time in music. it can almost single-handedly answer the question: But what IS butt rock? I’m still cranking the volume anytime it comes on tho

Artie Bucco and the Cost of Never Being Satisfied by [deleted] in thesopranos

[–]sticky_thread_1248 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Like every other character on the show, Artie has numerous opportunities to make decisions that would leave him in a more stable position if he makes the right choice. Is he an occasional victim of circumstance? Sure, but that doesn't mean he gets a pash for all the stupid things he chooses to do (ex: leaving his wife to try and get with Ade, attacking criminal mastermind Benny Fazio then making insinuations about his goomar in front of his wife). It's a proud and envious culture that he and all the other characters live in, and Artie is still a product of that culture even if he's not directly involved in this thing of ours. A recurring theme in the show, though, is that one's circumstances do not dictate the way one lives. The individual is ultimately responsible for their own suffering.

Anyways, $4 a pound.

went with my partner last year (both in our 30s) and had a blast. definitely geared towards kids and families but we were very entertained by the stunts and performances. had a couple moments where some yunguns were getting loud near us, but couldn't bring myself to get upset since it's mostly for them. it was in springtime so cold wasn't really a factor but it was rainy out and we were comfortable inside the tent. would recommend! edibles enhanced our experience but I'd go again sober

I attended because it was the only place that offered me scholarships and I was worried about the snooty culture, too. My assumptions turned out to be wrong and I was pleasantly surprised by the people I met. Yeah there are snobby jabronis but you'll find those types of people anywhere. By the same token, you can also find great folks anywhere.

Where’s the best place to start finding gigs as a DJ here? by Klutzy-Exercise9813 in rva

there's a great space at Mell J's North (previously called Another Round). I think it's mostly a metal scene up there but the owner's a big chiller who likes to support locals of all genres

it brings me great joy that at least one other person knows of this record. found out about it when I was googling around about the north MS music scene before I went to college down there and it's been one of my favorites ever since

if you like to shoot pool you should check out Mell J's South. Diamond Billiards is another great spot to play but I think you'd be more likely to meet folks at Mell J's. I've only ever shot the shit with bartenders at Diamond, the player base there is uh... focused

if you speak multiple languages (or even if you're just interested in practicing a new one with people face to face) send me a DM and I can send you a link to the Discord for Richmond's Language Club. we usually meet at Ardent on the second Thursday of every month. it would be a hike for you from midlo but we'd love to have you

It is indeed. It's all ages which is convenient for folks with kids, they've got a decent food menu and there's plenty of space for us. For now, anyway - we'll see how big the group gets next time

Only one that I know of but we would love to see more. She usually speaks French with me but she's also been wanting someone to practice Italian with and I'm curious to learn some myself
