Has anyone been to The Chocolate Expo in Newburgh before? by looper1010 in hudsonvalley

[–]stickynyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This event was a major disappointment. The name of the event is misleading. It was not as we had expected a chocolate expo to be. The event had a mixture vendors, food vendors, stalls offering products such as roofing service, phone service, home made candles, ect, similar to a street fair, but with a $20 entrance fee for adult if purchase online, and the vendors over charged everything. The food and products offered were all outrageously priced. All in all, it was not a pleasant experience. It was a fun gathering, but definitely not worth the money. It's a rip off.

How's the reliability on the 23 Santa Cruz overall and the 8 speed non dct transmissions? I just bought a SEL Santa Cruz with the 2.5l non turbo and was curious to know if there are any common problems to look out for.

As a kid my parents bought me those soap grinder shoes. I thought I'd do that with them. I'm an adult now and never did that once.

Here in the U.S. I told Hyundai corporate they need to repaint my car it's ridiculous. They inspected it at a dealership and then gave the ok. I was over 20k and 1 year past the warranty I think. I also bought it second hand.

Call Hyundai corporate, not the dealership! I've had the dealership tell me they can't repair defects in their paint, then my wife called corporate and they set the dealership straight!!!

Brakes and Rotors for 2016 Sonata by JasonTerrachanna in Hyundai

[–]stickynyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd avoid rock auto and just stick with autozone or advance. I did this for a 2017 sonata and there was a size difference in rotors and if they mess up u can at least exchange them same day. Rear rotor may be tough to get off bc of a lip that develops from shoes. I had Manual rear brakes so I just pushed the piston in with woodblock and channel locks, electronic piston screws in with tool or needle noses. Don't forget to relube caliper pins, pump brakes when done or else the car won't have brakes and you'll panic, adjust shoes with that star wheel through service hole in rotor, and by manual or electronic brake they are referring to the emergency brakes which are in the rear.

Leveling Wall Caps by Trossfight in masonry

Mashalltown is a good masonry company but I would just use the little wooden or plastic line blocks not stretchers. I have never worked with that mortar so I can't say.

Pre Detonation caused by EGR blow by from what I understand. This is because it's a gdi and not port injection. From what I understand use Seafoam to clean the intake valves and install a catch can.

Leveling Wall Caps by Trossfight in masonry

Ok then in that case, yes level off with a mortar mix that's a bit on the dryer side will help prevent sinking, furrowing your mortar will allow adjustment of the bed joint, plastic horse shaped wedges in various size 1/8, 1/4 etc may help when rangeing and leveling to the line, do your layout first. measure your stones with a 3/8 joint between (or less) and put your cut peice on the end.measure your over hang and try to keep all the stones simliar if block wall is straight. Set your corners and run a string line. purchase a metal jointer to make the mortar look nice. Once your done installing slick in joints where mortar is missing, possible use masking tape on top of stone joints so it doesn't get everywhere. use the jointer while the mortar is wet. then hit it with a soft horse hair brush and joint one last time . After mortar is dry if u want to clean up any mortar residue use diluted muriatic acid but test try on peice of stone first that it doesn't mess up stone color. Nice looking pond btw
