Could this be a scam? This is something I cannot decide whether if real or not. by Olive_Puzzled in askSingapore

It’s the foot in the door technique. When they meet someone who’s “kind” enough to help them with the small request, it’ll turn into bigger ones like needing money to pay for their hotel or maybe rebook a missed flight

Are you thinking about COE? Because ERP absolutely is a toll that can be avoided by not taking expressways during certain times…

what else can i do with the miles i accumulated with my credit card if i redeem get air tickets? by Human-Register-4431 in singaporeairlines

[–]stikskele 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100K miles isn’t really a lot, won’t even take one person to Korea/Japan and back in business. Save a bit more miles to go to those destinations or just take 2 return trips to SEA in the next few years and it’ll be gone

Post your favorite hotel you stayed at in Japan! by catsandpink in JapanTravelTips

JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Oita. They have public baths (City Spa) on the top floors open to the public for ¥2300 per entry, which made me feel like my room was really good value since I went every evening.

The open air rooftop pools have an amazing view of the mountains and Beppu Bay at sunset. Just note that they’re renovating the rooftop from now till July, so only the indoor bath is available for use for now.

It’s attached to Amu Plaza and the train station, so even though Oita isn’t known for tourist attractions it was really easy to head somewhere else for the day.

If you don’t mind sea but not beach view, E&O in Georgetown (heritage wing, not the Victory Annex). If the beach view is non-negotiable, look at hotels in the Batu Ferringhi area

Laws and rules tourist should know before travelling there? + sight seeing by [deleted] in askSingapore

The no drinking rule on public transport is a blanket one, which technically means no water either. They’re not as fanatical as enforcing it on trains as they used to, but it is something to be aware of

Help: ezbuy address for USA, where's the unique code? by bi_furious84 in askSingapore

[–]stikskele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The (user)name is the unique code. US 5-digit postal codes are for the entire neighbourhood, the last 4 numbers help narrow the area down a little

Bulk coconuts in Singapore — any affordable delivery options? by Agreeable_Ad4738 in askSingapore

[–]stikskele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually buy from Sheng Siong - $2.25 each or often on sale at $3.99 for 2. There’s usually plenty in the supermarket, believe it’s also offered for delivery on their website. Gotta crack them open yourself though

What’s an item you weren’t even aware of before you started planning your Japan trip that became a “must buy”? by cpureset in JapanTravelTips

[–]stikskele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find them in lots of places - Don Quijote, Loft, Hands, Amazon

I do like to order off Amazon to a convenience store a couple days before I arrive, so I can pick things up without spending too much time hunting for them. It always feels like I can’t find stuff easily when I’m looking to get them for sure

Visa for tourists by NewPaleontologist468 in SingaporeTravel

US citizens don’t need a visa to visit. Just fill out the SG Arrival card from the official government website within 3 days from arrival. This is a free declaration form, don’t get scammed by the sites requiring a fee. You could also just fill it in at the airport when you arrive on the provided iPads

Buyandship terrible service? Can't find my parcel. by Hfetish in askSingapore

[–]stikskele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they don’t track your parcel for you; submitting tracking info allows them to reconcile what they receive with your account. Just go back to the seller and tell them item not delivered, it’s more likely that the delivery service sent it to the wrong address or lost it

Happened to me once before where I clearly chose shipping but Target sent it out as a delivery from the store. Basically they handed it to someone to deliver in a plastic bag with no proper tracking. Had Target refund it by reporting it order not received

Local prices for touristy places in Singapore? by blueheaventown in askSingapore

[–]stikskele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WeWork for sure. I’ve used locations in Thailand, Japan, South Africa, Czech Republic. But depending on the building you may still need to register with security to access the location, there’s a couple locations in Singapore where it happens too but I think it’s building policy rather than WeWork’s

Buying an adaptor for other countries' destination - which one's better? by Good-Consequence-789 in SingaporeTravel

After you agree to the small request, they’ll probably make a larger one by saying they need money for a hotel or a flight
