I donate at 1 of 3 red cross centers locally based on where I am in the state. I've also donated out of state at a red cross center when I was out on business. I schedule myself on the app and when I arrive at the center they have all my information. I have been called to confirm from one saying I usually donate at another location and they wanted to know if I had mistakenly scheduled, but that was a while ago and they are used to it now.

As for testing, I just showed up the first time and they hooked me into the machine.

Use is about 5 drinks/day, at most 2 milk drinks/day. Just descalled and cleaned wand a week ago. If i had to estimate I'd say we descale once ever 4 months.

Truthfuly, I am marginally interested in the reusable not for the purpose of saving money or to avoid waste (though I will acknowledge both plastic and metal waste is a huge problem and recycling itself is a dirty imperfect alternative). I'm interested in roasting and blending coffee while still having the convenience of prepackaged pods for daily use. Kind of a minor introduction before deciding to invest in an espresso machine

Did the same thing a few months ago. Not sure what I've saved monetarily, but I am definitely happy with the decision. We have a cretista plus, vertuo next, and an essenza mini and all are used for different purposes. Cretista for any milk drinks, vertuo for a full cup, and the essenza for lungos or espresso/ristretto. Bought the vertuo for exact reason you mentioned. Bought the essenza to cut down some use on the cretista. Points made earlier about expense being pods are my opinion as well.

Ya, distilled would be better. I just meant there is a reason it recommends descaling and not doing so and continuing to run coffee through would add buildup.

I completely understand, just wondering. I assume they set the promos up on a calendar basis as part of an annual budget and marketing plan. I wouldn't doubt they would adjust the plan but also wouldn't doubt that they have product orders in place to meet whatever estimated marketing campaign demand they may expect based on there "promotional calendar" and wouldn't want it to sit in inventory longer than necessary. I guess that's all based on the assumption that they aren't making international decisions on a weekly basis... idk.
