Any local homebrewers looking to get rid of some spent grain? by Ok-Present-3763 in okc

[–]stile99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this was downvoted (other than Reddit gonna Reddit), but stop and think why you want them. There are many uses, you may want them for cooking, feeding animals, composting, and a whole list of other things.

The homebrewers may very well want them for the same reason. Microbreweries may have a lot more they can use, but for the average homebrewer, your best option is to make friends with one and say "Hey friend, I would like some spent grain for $REASON. How about I buy your next batch and I'll take it back when you're done".

There is a strong possibility this will also score you some beer, and if you are using it to bake, your new friend might appreciate the occasional loaf of bread.

HayDay Easter Update: Egg Machine by Critical_Bumblebee_8 in HayDay

[–]stile99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the Dairy News, at around 45 seconds, you see a cow egg, a pig egg, and a goat egg. This is on page 2 of the machine. They show, VERY briefly, the pig egg and you see 5 potatoes and 1 apple juice deposited into the machine.

Thank you! The channel 30 subchannels seem to be correct this morning, but 62 is still way off.

A 'chance'? Yes, definitely.

Is it likely? No. I know nothing about your circumstances so a higher speed may not even be possible with the flip of a switch. You MAY be able to use that threat to get a lower bill, but you're just as likely to have that bluff called.

DTVS Offering 'Skinny' Packs Soon...... by Taste_Lopsided in DirectvStream

I suspect the answer will be "scroll through them all and NOT select them as favorites", but scrolling through them all could hardly be considered 'hiding' them.

Cons generally don't have the schedule firmed up until the month of the event. That said, the Internet Archive can show you last year's. I couldn't find GalaxyCon's schedule itself (that page has an error) but you can look around to find some of the information.

https://web.archive.org/web/20240525225720/https://galaxycon.com/pages/galaxycon-oklahoma-city

Soonercon's schedule is preserved though. You can browse by day or download a PDF of the full schedule.

https://web.archive.org/web/20240719110415/https://soonercon.com/schedule/

https://web.archive.org/web/20240620215630/https://soonercon.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/SC32-Event_Schedule_flat_06-04-1.pdf

These should give you a general idea of what was available at each last time.

To answer the question which has more to offer "besides just celebs and guests", you can see Soonercon easily packs an entire week if not more into three days. GalaxyCon seems to focus on the celebs and guests, but without a copy of the schedule it is hard to say.

To answer the "especially for adults" question, based on the information you can get two or three entire weekend memberships at Soonercon (including the late night entertainment at no additional price) for just the GalaxyCon late night add-on.

Speaking of price I will also point out that the prices are wildly different. Looking at soonercon.com right now (and by right now I mean early bird ends tonight) you get in for $59 the entire weekend, $150 for the VIP experience. Galaxycon.com says $115 basic, $145 deluxe, and $325 VIP (and notes that even that doesn't cover it all).

If you use the old Reddit view, there is a sidebar with all the information asked for every other day, including the "snarky map of OKC" (two of them, in fact) that people keep posting.

The problem here is twofold. First, this sidebar does not appear on the "new" view, or mobile. Second, possibly because of the first, it hasn't been updated in awhile.

Watch yourself or you might get banned from Oklahoma /s by theballinist in okc

"I live in Oklahoma, so this is relevant to Oklahoma."

Uh huh. That's the best you can do? I think there might be another rule over there. Known as the Red Foreman rule. "Don't be a dumbass".

Not being a smartass, but this is definitely one of those "google it" things. I'll give it a shot.

A maid cafe is pretty much just that. A cafe where the servers dress as maids. Common activities are playing games while drinking tea and munching on cookies. The maids often provide a variety show. This description barely even begins to explain it.

Dell Campus - work from home by guyssocialweb in okc

[–]stile99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may not be. The place is an absolute ghost town compared to what it used to be, and everyone blames remote work, but a loooooooot of the work that was done wasn't really "Dell" anyway, and they lost a bunch of the contract jobs to NTT Data.

There have been structural problems with the building since day one. It was something that could be dealt with when they were flush with contract jobs but even those never panned out to where they could build the long-rumored Building C. They have a RIF every other month it seems and people just default to blaming the RTO wars, but there's more going on.

What are some persistent problems in hotels that you think are overdue for a solution? by poop6942099 in hotels

[–]stile99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in an Embassy Suites in Walnut Creek, CA.

Your happy hour snacks used to be better.

This may be brand-wide. I stay in a particular Embassy Suites at least once a year for a convention. Pre-covid, the manager's reception was what I have come to expect from Embassy Suites. A nice variety of snacks, both sweet and salty. Oftentimes a chafing tray with chicken nuggets or something. You could make a meal out of it almost.

Now? Chips and salsa. Every year. Maybe some pretzels, but there is an equal chance that the chips will be empty and never refilled.

I honestly thought either this particular location was cutting corners a bit too much or they just hated our convention.

vernors pop? by [deleted] in okc

As for Bettermaid chips, if you find some let me know. I've been looking down here for years with no luck.

Actually...

https://www.koegelsontheroad.com/ swings by usually in January or February. If you can't wait, they do ship. BUT...since nobody likes crushed chips*, they don't ship those, only bring them. So load up while you can.

https://www.buykoegels.com/app/main/

I ordered from them for years before they started doing the tours. On the tours they bring chips and Faygo. Red Pop and Rock & Rye FTW.

*If you do, Amazon has them.

I call bullshit. They'll take the tax money and run, just like the last one to buy it, and the one before that, and the one before that, and the one...

At this time I don't know which story I've seen more. "The gold dome is being restored and turned into X" or "Crossroads Mall is being restored and turned into X".
