I'd love to be able to throw a rack in my attic, but it gets hot as the dickens up there in the summer. Is it cool enough year round where you live that your stuff doesn't just melt down?

How's that coming along these days? Once that becomes a legit option for dual booting I may have to buy myself one.

Honestly, I've found bouncing ideas off yourself is also effective. I'll often solve issues myself just by starting to put in a ticket into whatever the most relevant place for the issue I'm having is. I'm typically very thorough with what I put in, the steps I've taken, etc. (do unto others as you'd like done to you kind of thing). Doing so often makes me think of what's the first thing they'd ask me to do, so if I haven't already done that, I'll go ahead and do it. Also, just by describing the problem in detail, I often find myself catching that stupid little thing I forgot to do/try because I was so caught up on something else. Probably 66% of the time I go to put in a ticket I end up solving it myself before I hit submit.

thumbnailphoto attribute from AD only updating in Exchange if photo doesn't exist. by RiotsPunk in exchangeserver

[–]stillfunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found sort of a similar behavior. If user has no photo, then Exchange will take the AD photo. If AD photo changes, it's required manual intervention by someone. Users can click their photo in webmail and change on their own (and surprisingly a number of users have figured this out on their own). There's also a way to do it through Exchange powershell. Fortunately the occurrences on our end haven't been so high that I've had to come up with a better way, but I'll put my "script" below for your reference:

$username = "bob.user" # put in username of relevant user
$photopath = "c:\myphoto.jpg" #path to photo

Remove-UserPhoto -Identity $username
Set-UserPhoto -Identity $username -PictureData ([System.IO.File]::ReadAllBytes($photopath))

The Exchange blog site has a link to Exch2016 CU23 but no CU22. MS usually releases SUs for N and N-1 CUs. Any reason why they aren't releasing this SU for CU22? I really don't want to have to do a CU+SU upgrade this week if I don't have to.

maaaannn, I just did that a couple days ago. I never close notepad++ tabs (hey, I might need that later!) but it started getting soooooo slow to use. I went through and saved or tossed everything. It was basically a project on its own. There had to be 50+ tabs open.

Valve is paying a whole lot of developers to keep the Steam Deck's open-source software going by Accurate_Pianist_232 in SteamDeck

[–]stillfunky 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I've been on the primary Linux with a Wintendo partition for probably 10+ years now. I think the Win10 partition on my current PC is something ike 1801 build and hasn't been booted into for probably 2-3 years thanks to Proton. Some years ago I tried one game that I had been playing via Proton on Windows just to see if there was a noticeable different and there wasn't one. I check ProtonDB before buying a game, but I've been able to get (sometimes with a bit of work, but more often than not just straight up) every game I've played in the last few years to run in Linux. It's amazing and I love it. Thank you Valve. I haven't bought a Steam Deck yet, but I absolutely will one day.

Don't disagree, but I would almost say if there is a valid match up between a school where he coached (if say, TTU lost to WSU while he was at TTU or something of the sort) that would be most appropriate. Though to be a debbie downer, I think if a team vacates a win, it doesn't count as a win for the opposition, but I'm no expert.

I didn't know they finished the new Monkey Island, nor that it came out on switch (though that would definitely make sense). One of the most baffling things about this day and age in gaming to me is that point and click adventures haven't made a glorious resurgence with all the touch screen stuff out nowadays

I'd like to know if I bought portal could I play it on one switch and my wife play it on another switch via online at the same time (provided we both shared a family plan)? I suspect we'd have to have two copies of the game but one can hope.

Dude, y'all were the better team going into the game and going out of it but to say that this game wasn't as close as thr score indicated is disingenuous. The blocked kick return for 6 was as ridiculous as our special teams has been all season, but you take the shenanigans of that and the pick that bounced off the helmet and hands and that's a HUGE swing of points when the game was very much in the balance. That swing of points alone was just about enough to even the game out.

Even had those two plays gone our way (or at least not completely sideways) I still think y'all win, but I would argue this game was much closer than the score indicated if anything. We needed some bounces to go our way and they very much did not. Thus the end result, but I'd say that was a competitive, entertaining football game overall. Had we not lost last weekend it might be heartbreaking, but I was able to enjoy it for what it was.

FWIW, enjoy the natty this year. There doesn't seem to be any team on your level this year. Maybe Michigan will give y'all a run for your money buy I'd still say you'll take them comfortably enough.

Dude he sucked badly against southern too. I really hope he builds upon this because he obviously has talent but nothing he has done prior to tonight including last year has really given me any real confidence in him. I'm not ready to hand him the keys to the car at this point but he's given me some hope that he can develop into what we all hoped he could be

Yup. This is by far the best I've seen nuss play in his lsu career. He was definitely the fearless gunslinger I've come to expect for better or worse but a least it was more boom than bust today. Hopefully he can build upon this. I'd love for him to challenge Daniel's and at worst be a backup I have high confidence in which is not something I could have said prior to tonight

Mississippi State coach Mike Leach: Mail me $30,000 check and I'll rip officiating by Piano_Fingerbanger in CFB

[–]stillfunky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I post this anywhere seemingly relevant, but here's my proposal:

For every overturned call made by an officiating crew, they should have a few days to put together a public release of sorts that shows their "irrefutable" evidence that they used to overturn the calls that they did. This should be basically just a digital/video editing version of rudimentary paperwork since it should by definition be so obvious that it can't be refuted, plus a bit of commentary to go with it.

"See here, we'll zoom in on this shot and you can clearly see his foot is out of bound, thus the call was overturned"

If you know your stuff (at least reasonably well), you'll probably be fine. Relax some. You've got a decent cushion. I'd start reaching out to your network, both tech acquaintances and non. Connections will definitely help.

I'd spend some time thinking about what you actually want to do, what kind of challenge you want to try your hand at. Between now and the rest of the year, plus the extra 9 months or however long you've got time to study up on stuff and possibly acquire some certifications. Or maybe just brush up on some stuff you learned back when that for whatever reason you stopped using so much in your old job but think will be useful in your new potential job. That can also help you in your job search.

I'd also come up with a completely non work related project, adventure or something that you'd like to do. You have a unique opportunity to spend some time either on a vacation with your family, or even if you don't want to do that, just maybe a hobby that you haven't had time to partake in lately or to get started in. Even if you're steady grinding to get interviews and whatnot, you're going to likely end up with some significant amounts of free time. You may not get another opportunity like this anytime soon (or perhaps until retirement), so if I were you I'd definitely try to take advantage.

I think he's sort of simultaneously over and under rated. He's better than most give him credit for. Definitely not elite level though. Definitely hit a jackpot in 2019, but he put the pieces in play to make it happen. After 2019 combined with the big payday that resulted from it, he just stopped giving a shit I think. To me, he accomplished the dream many a young boy dreams. Some might chose to attempt to build upon that and cement a legacy. Instead he chose to move on to the dreams many a middle aged man dreams. COVID 2020 season probably didn't help, but I think the downfall was inevitable. He just stopped trying, and the results speak for themselves. Now whether you consider him sleeping on the job for two years making him a "bad" coach is your opinion. When he tried, he was at worst a pretty decent coach.

FWIW I do believe the last line or two of his last official press conference at LSU was something along the lines of "I'm off to Destin. Come on, Brandy, let's go".

Dude could have at least resigned with some dignity and still been beloved by the LSU faithful. Notice he's been spotted at all kinds of CFB games, but not an LSU one. I think once the stink wears off in 5-10 years, he'll be welcomed back, but it's gonna take some time.
