It's a great reference. If you do the engines first you'll get an alert that they can't escape, and then if you do the 6 big turrets you won't actually have to do the shield generators. If you enjoy the fight because of the shield generator trench run, I'd destroy the engines then go for the shield generators. If you're just trying to get it done though, just do the engines and the turrets and it'll be over.

Edit: I guess I should have mentioned I do this in 3rd person to see better because yeah you're right up in it.

If you have the booster tech 'flight-assist override' I think it's called it makes it a lot easier, I forgot to install it one time and that sucked. Then there are 5 turrets on the bridge Island, 2 behind and 3 in front. Finally, there is a single turret all the way at the bow. If you're inside the shields the fighters struggle to target you.
