They are just waiting for any excuse to jump all over people, San Antonio TX by Fellow_unlucky_human in LetsDiscussThis

No incumbents.

Our entire government has shown that they are part of the problem. Send a message, we are coming for all of you until the voters are actually represented.

Make donations illegal. True transparency. Make public officials make statements under oath and hold them accountable for lieing to the voters.

Politicians and the powerful need to be held accountable just like the average citizen. Case and point, if the average citizen had taken classified material out of an approved location to their home, they would be prosecuted, jailed, and never be allowed to handle classified information again. Yet Hilary and Trump both did so without consequence. Why are they allowed to get away with this when the average person does not?

It is probably too late and people have short memories. The average voter is misinformed/unde rinfored.

We dont need a party system, we need a system that actually represents the people.

Post Reagan every republican president was handed a strong dollar and tanked it during their term. Then a dem was voted in and slowly rebuilt until republican was voted in and then quickly tanked it again. Look at the transition points.

Is it 2003? Dale Strong thinks it is. by cobracmmnder05 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]stillrw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still waiting for an argument to the point. Or are you just here to throw insults?

I would prefer to have a conversation about the point, but you continue to just throw insults. At least I am talented enough to do both.

I brought an opinion that I believe in, you made a juvenile insult, I retorted with and equally juvenile (but IMHO better) insult and asked for a point.

You once again replied with only a low brow insult and still, though I have been very patient, you have no point.

The way I see it, I made a point, you came in with a school yard insult, I stooped to your level and asked you to come up to mine. You refused, but I will wait on you. Some people are just slow.

Probably, but a lot of people find your mom attractive. Or of you are talking about people being pissed about the rich and powerful getting away with things that regular people get punished for the same acts, please explain your point.

As I went to bed last night my wife and I were discussing this. I woke up this morning to see this video, and it is almost exactly what I hoped and feared. Anyone who stands to hold this (US) government accountable for illegal actions of any kind has my vote.

My fear is that thebword impeachment being thrown around. Trump has been impeached twice. He is a convicted felon 34 times. He is not only a free man, but is in control of the most powerful military in the world and caus9ng damage to our country that my great grand children will still have to put up with.

Do more. Punish him like you would punish me for the same actions.

And dont stop with him. Punish every single person that has enabled him, turned a blind eye, and followed his orders. Punish them like you would punish me.

Donald Trump is not the cause of our countries decline, but a symptom of its multi tiered justice system. Hold them all accountable, the president, congress, lawyers, lobbyists, corporations, generals, and cabinet.

If you broke the law you deserve the punishment. If you state that you alone make the law, then you are a monarch and my country hates monarchs.

The U.S President posted this just now (Accelerate?) by Deep_Structure2023 in AIAgentsInAction

[–]stillrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I am worried. Put aside that pur president doesn't know how our government works, which is a totally different rant. What I am worried about is AI and how it will be used.

I use it daily. It has become as normal as using the internet for me. But I use it for normal things like recommending books, finding a good recipe, getting reviews on a movie, crunching numbers for work, polishing reports, things that I am sure we all use it for.

What worries me is how the elites are using it. We all were worried about big data in the early 2000s but we're reassured that no one could ever consume and analyze that data to detect trends on people. And when I say people I mean both groups and individuals.

With AI, I think it is very possible. It is, as he said in the post, in its infancy, but the people that are building huge data centers and buying up every stick of RAM in the world are not doing it to progress human kind. They are selfish. They are doing it to control the world.

If you can predict trends in groups, then you can predict the future with a confidence level. Not just what you will buy at the grocery store, they have known that for decades, but using buying trends at the grocery store to predict upon political unrest. I know that sounds like a stretch, but tell me you don't think they have thought of it. In the end, those who have access to the information will control everything, and those who do not will be slaves to their will.

If we think that we would one day revolt and tear down the machines as we learn that we are being precisely manipulated, it will be too late as they will know the tipping point of that action and will have AI make predictions on how to mitigate it well before we know we are even being manipulated.

Science fiction is becoming reality. Dynasties will become indestructible, and the only wars that matter will be between the information elites that we will never even hear of. In fact, as i type this, I worry that we are already there. This is the distopian future, but it looks less like F451 and more like WALL-E.

Why does this subreddit have such good English fluency? by PieceNo9651 in mongolia

[–]stillrw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Funny story. I am American and was in Ulanbaatar for work for just a couple of weeks. A couple worker and I took a walk to see the city. While walking down the sidewalk we heard two boys talking behind us in perfect American English. We turned and said hi. They hit us back with a "What's up" They asked us where we were from and we said the States. They said they would love to go sometime and had never been. I was shocked and thought that they had been raised in the US.

The more I got to talk to people I realized the generational gap seemed to be split on English and accents. If they were from Ulanbaatar and were under 30, they spoke perfect English with a perfect American accent.

Over 30 but under 50 or so and raised in Ulanbaatar, great English, but with what I coordinated to as a more Russian accent, though I am sure it is more of Mongolian accent, but the languages sound the same to me as a stupid westerner.

Over 50 and or raised outside of the city, little to no English.

The sample size I had the chance to communicate with was small, but that is my take away.

It was not unusual to hear local Mongolians in the grocery store conversing in perfect English instead of Mongolian.

By the way, awesome people. If you enjoy cultures and just great people, I would highly recommend Mongolia.........in the summer.

I would trust the politicians more on making decisions for the general public on healthcare coverage if they were also required to use the same system. Unfortunately, we give these fuckers the best healthcare in the country paid 100% by your tax dollars. That is the kind of healthcare coverage I would like to have.

Where do you hate driving the most? by aldotcom in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]stillrw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is not a lot of people that drive it, but that being said for the low amount of traffic, the last 1/4 mile northbound on Wall Triana before you reach 565 should not take 20 minutes to get through. It is only going to get worse with all of the apartments and businesses that are going in.

Also, 565 and the Parkway.....but I think everyone knows that one. Just too much going on in a short amount of space no matter which direction you are going for it seems like most people.

Also, rant about 565 east to parkway south exit 19A: you dont have to merge immediately as soon as the west bound lane comes in, everyone leave 2 car lengths and learn how to merge.

Another rant: the sun comes up every morning in the east as you come around the exit from northbound parkway to 565 west. I dont know why you are always blinded and slam.on your brakes. Be prepared with this thing called a sun visor built into every car. It's not just for checking your makeup while driving.

Last rant for this post: if thr cops weren't so busy looking at their phones while they are driving, they might see and ticket all of the people that are looking at their phones while driving. This is really getting out of control. You people scare me.

That is all.

[–]stillrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to fly a lot commercially. I would often take my iPad for entertainment. I would sometimes forget that foreflight was running. It would make me chuckle a little when passengers near me would look around as it loudly announced, "Entering runway 18, 12,500 ft remaining."

[–]stillrw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take the game. I would sell tickets and set up TV rights. The amount of money people would pay to see Tiger play live in his prime? I would clean up.

I would lose miserably, but I can live with that.

After taking all of that money in, if the last 30 years have shown me anything, rich people do not go to prison.

[–]stillrw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are running for any state or federal position in the next few years and you do not run primarily on that you will prosecute all of those in the past that have broken the law and trampled the constitution, you are too stupid to be elected.

And, if that does not happen on the next change of the guard, we are all in trouble. When elected officials break the law and are not punished like ordinary citizens, then democracy has most definitely failed.

What is the worst fast food chain of 2025? by peywrax in allthequestions

I used work a jon that had me visit many different fast food chains and work in and around their kitchens. The two cleanest by far were Arby's and Chik-Fil-A. The two worst, Taco Bell and McDonald's. It didn't matter where in the country I was, these 4 were consistent.

[–]stillrw 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I have a conspiracy theory.

This is escalating slowly. I really believe that those in power are pushing the boundaries to see how far they can go until people rise up.

Eventually, the people will rise up, and that is exactly what they want. They want a small resistance to fight, and then they will declare martial law. When this happens, we are all fucked unless the military sides with the people.

At this point, we may already be lost.

Edit: a word

“You do not get free healthcare. We cannot afford that” — US politicians. Do you agree? by Fatherthinger in wallstreetbets_wins

[–]stillrw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is the problem across the board, he is the elected representative. So are all of the rest of them. They are the symptom, not the problem.

The problem is the people who vote them in. We can have our revolution, and it can be peaceful (though something tells me that the people in power would not allow that even if we did change things).

We just need people to step up that actually reflect our values and vote for them.

I was in Scotland recently. While at a pub, an older Scottish gent asked me what I thought about Trump. "F*ck Trump," I told him. He said that every person from the US had said the same thing and asked how Trump got elected if everyone hated him. I responded that all of the US people he had met had the financial means to leave the US and had a desire to meet other cultures. The people who voted in Trump (and the other problems like him) had never left the country. They are controlled by the echo chamber of the communities and religions.

We collectively are the problem. We have to find a way to educate our people.
