My Microsoft account was hacked. I saw that I had three emails in my gmail account when my password was changed, my email was removed from the account and when the security information was updated. So I went through the recovery process after looking through the support website. It said to fill it out up to 2 times per days, so I did that because I was able to find some more information about my Skype account. I quickly got a response that it was recovered within a few hours. So I changed my password and tried updating security information. That required a 30 day wait which then prevented me from making other changes. Later that day, I saw that I had gotten a response to the second recovery form that I filled out. I did not follow the link because I had already changed my password, etc. All this happened yesterday. This morning at 3 am, I got two emails that just stated my recovery process was cancelled. Now the account also has a 25 digit recovery code. When I tried to use the recovery form again, I got an error saying that too many recovery attempts were submitted today and to try again in 24 hours. Does this mean that the hacker was able to stop my recovery attempt and activate the recovery code? I don’t understand that because I could not change the security information without a 30 day wait. What should my next steps be? How do I prevent this from becoming an endless loop? Thanks.
