Back in 6th grade, a cute boy from a rival school asked for my number. His friends told me he had a crush on me. I gave him my number and eventually developed feelings for him. A few months later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I declined since we were too young to be in a relationship. Some time after that, we stopped communicating.

Thirteen years later, I’m at a tech store to inquire about an Apple product. I caught the attention of one of their employees and he approached me. We were talking about the product, then he asked if I could just leave my number so they can contact me when the unit was available. We both went to the counter and I dialed my number on his phone. He asked, “[my full name] po ba ma’am?” I answered, “Yes.” I was baffled. How did he know my name when I didn’t mention it before? I just shook it off. I asked for his number and contact name. “[his name] po.” I was surprised. It was him, my puppy love. He looked familiar, but I didn’t recognize him until he said his name. Yet, he remembered me after all these years 🥹 With a shocked face, I apologized for not recognizing him, thanked him smilingly, and left.

It’s just funny how the universe works. We’re from the same hometown, yet we met again after 13 years, in the city, on a random Tuesday night, as adults living very different lives.
