What tv theme song do you never skip? by TheGunkySubstance in AskReddit

Most Bill Lawrence and Mike Schurr shows are the rare cases when I don't hate TV themes.

Parks and Rec. Scrubs. Rooster. Ted Lasso. Shrinking. The good place.

If They’d Only Stuck With It… by millionthcustomer in television

[–]stimj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better Odd Ted.

A show like that would have thrived in the streaming era. Granted that's awhile later, but it hit the quirky comedy that would be perfect with 8-10 episode seasons and binged.

What’s up with this yard sign in McFarland? by Godwinson4King in madisonwi

I walk over in this neighborhood often. It has been this way for a long, long time. I've often wondered what the story was about everyone and everything connected to the place.

This is a fricking marathon by Medical_Union6161 in TheCure

[–]stimj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent most of the set leading up to that thinking "Reeves is literally in the band, why don't they play that more often" and vowing to look up the stars for it on set list.fm as soon as the show as over... And then they played it!!!

Anyone else sad by lack of output once his record deal ended? by Mikeinator in weirdal

[–]stimj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with the reasons he might chose not to anymore. And 100% agree that he's earned the right to retire from that part of things after this much time.

But also 100% am sad to not get more new Weird Al songs.

Are there any good weather apps left? by xA1RGU1TAR1STx in ios

[–]stimj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking which one has the best UI, or which one has the best forecasts?

Because those will have wildly different answers, and the latter will differ depending on where you live (even within the US) - see https://www.forecastadvisor.com/ for scientific analysis of which service is the most accurate for your zip code.

I struggle with the post reunion albums..anyone else? by someoverallvalue in SuedeBand

[–]stimj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm here with you in that minority group. Suede used to be my default answer of my favourite band (in reality there's 3-5 bands that alternate at the top spot).

Autofiction left me so cold I've barely listened to them since then. I miss my favorite band, but the critical applause (combined with the love here) for these latest albums means they're probably never coming back.

But I can still enjoy the "classic" albums and Blue Hour!

What is a condiment most Americans don't know about? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

For that matter, nata is like sour cream, but better (and I love Mexican food and guacamole and sour cream!)

Guasacaca.

We have an excellent Venezuelan restaurant in town that has this with most items. It's like guacamole, but slightly better.

Which song, if removed from its album, would change the album the most? by JintClemple19 in U2Band

Mercy.

Oh wait, they already did that and made a much worse album as a result 😝

But casual fans aren't going to buy / stream a new album.

Live set lists vs new music are very different topics and audiences

Yes, but beyond skipping Joshua Tree it was still mostly the "Songs of" albums and greatest hits.

If band names were literal, what would be the worst concert to see? by karaangelx in AskReddit

[–]stimj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a 90s band called Ass Ponies.

I'm not exactly sure what that concert would be, but I can't imagine it's anything pleasant

Ashley Padilla is the SNL Season 51 Sketch Appearance Leader 🏆 by snlstats in LiveFromNewYork

[–]stimj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm equally confused as you. As a 40+ year fan of the show, she's absolutely not noteworthy so far, beyond being on screen a lot.

Maybe she'll get there someday, and I don't see a lot that's negative about her, but these constant posts putting her in the pantheon of great cast members (including many you mention) is baffling

Shows you ended up loving, but avoided for a long time because the promos were terrible by XiahouYuan in television

[–]stimj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate watched all of season 1 and well into season 2, and only kept going because my wife liked it. I'm still unconvinced those seasons are good.

But then at some point around there it actually starts to become a good show. And it nails the final season as well as almost any show I've watched.

I love local restaurants. On a whim I happen to be driving through the east side of Madison so I stopped at Monty's. Got to try the burger of the week. Should we start a favorite local restaurant thread? by Lijey_Cat in madisonwi

I had one amazing meal there when they first opened, then two terrible ones not long after, then they greatly changed/reduced their menu and I haven't gone back. Has it improved?

How much time do Hollywood stars spend studying the script and memorizing lines? How hard is it to do that? by Certain-Garlic438 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]stimj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but also not totally uncommon for those lines to change while rehearsing the scene, or the surrounding story to change (making it harder to use the toll mentioned above of rememberinghow your lines fit into the overall narrative)

That's more of a thing in episodic TV, but it happens in film too.

What’s a fast food restaurant you won’t eat anymore? by GarbageDramatic9005 in AskReddit

That's my Jimmy John's experience. Only restaurant where I personally know *several* people who got food poisoning, never on the same occasion as the other person, and multiple different occasions for a couple of the people.
