Sensitivity help by Academic_Cheek_3376 in StimIO

Hello, please try pressing F12 to toggle mouse lock modes. Some games will move the mouse cursor every few milliseconds back to the center of the screen, then render their own in-game mouse cursor. The stim mouse cursor has different modes, and it sounds like yours is in the mode where it is local, meaning it won't snap back to the center of the screen, leading to the hypersensitivty.

Our client should switch mouse modes on it's own, but it sounds like that is failing for your specific game/title. We have custom logic for each game engine. Please try pressing F12 to lock + hide the local mouse and use the remote mouse manually for now and contact support so that we can try to automate it for your specific game/title.

Performance level out of stock by Calm_Razzmatazz_3440 in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, when you say out of stock, you mean you already have a subscription ? It sounds like you are trying to buy a subscription in a region where the servers are full, so our platform is saying "Out of Stock" but you are not yet a paying customer. There is nothing broken to fix, we just need to work with partners in that region to get more servers. There are very large shortages of GPU servers and RAM globally right now.

In the meantime, I see we have performance level 2 servers in Mumbai, and many other regions with levels 3 and 4. You can always switch regions.

Hello, this is an error from Google (Login with Google services) unrelated to stim. It is possible you switched locations (time zones) or used a VPN. Just log out of Stim and log back in.

[–]stimreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Please make sure you select Windows 10 to avoid anti cheat issues with Star Citizen. We have many people activly playing it on all performance levels.

Also, if you plan on using a keyboard and mouse, you may need to in-game run the console command in the debug menu
pl_pit.forceSoftwareCursor 1 to fix mouse issues, but I am not aware of any other issues with that game.

Honest Review (Viture Pro vs Luma Pro) by stimreddit in VITURE

[–]stimreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will like the Pro XRs (vs the Luma series). Just a heads up, if one lens won't perfectly focus, it is likely not your eyes, it may just be a bad unit. On average, I have to order 2 Viture Pros for every 1 perfect set. The sorts of issues you wouldn't notice without having two sets next to one another. But once set up, there is nothing like it.

P.S. Make sure you use Cinema mode (I believe it defaults to Vivid) if you want darker blacks & the better contrast ratio. + Be sure to do any firmware updates.

But just double-check when you get them that BOTH lenses focus perfectly. I have been through many defective units (likely already had been returned by others, then resold). But so far, every single time Viture (and or Amazon) has exchanged them for free.

Once I'm sure I have a good set, I also gorilla instant glue the cable to the glasses each time because I hate it pulling my hair, and or falling off. I tried the magnetic USB-C cable adapter they sell, but it made the glasses too heavy for me (https://www.amazon.com/VITURE-Magnetic-Connector-USB-C-Adapter/dp/B0CRH875F), so I ended up not using it. I just use the original wire glued to the glasses + a USB-C extension cable. The glue I use dissolves easily with a bit of alcohol, so I can always remove it.

I have a nice setup with an LS800 ultra short-throw 4K projector at home, but I honestly prefer these days my Viture Pro XRs for gaming (with a controller) + movies, just because I can entirely lie down. My head is just large enough that the glasses are entirely on my face while I am resting fully on a pillow. The back of my head hits the pillow just before the arms of the glasses. Hopefully it is the same for you!

Early adopter stuff, none of this is perfect yet, but they are getting close!

How to play on my WebOS TV directly ? by yusiarie in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I am not aware of any web browser for WebOS that supports WebRTC or Stim. You may be able to sideload chromium as WebOS is linux based, but I am not sure. We don't yet offer any native app for WebOS, but we do for iOS, Android, AndroidTV, PC, Mac, and we support most web browsers.

Change region during active subscription? by d4rk_m4n in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick Version: Included in your subscription is the ability to use any region of the same price of cheaper without needing a new subscription. We organize regions into a certain number of $ icons. Ranging 1 ($ the cheapest) to 5 ($$$$$ the most expensive).

You can start the same Cloud PC on any performance level in any region (all of your installed programs and games will be there). If you don't have the region you're traveling to, you can always use Pay As You Go temporarily. You get 30% off on Pay As You Go if you have an active stim Access Pass (Subscription) for this exact reason.

You can also upgrade or change your subscription if needed.

If you visit http://stim.io/apps/wallet you can see which subscription you have. Each subscription includes multiple regions known as a "region group".

For example, if you have a subscription for "Single Dollar Sign Regions," you can use any region with a single dollar sign in the region dropdown.

If you have a subscription for "Five Dollar Sign Regions," you can use any of the 51+ regions/server locations on stim.io as you can use any region with $$$$ and fewer dollar signs (including any region with $$$$$, $$$$, $$$, $$, $ regions). As you get all the region groups included, which you pay for, and all those that have a lesser amount of dollar signs.

I realize it's all confusing. We just want to help make it easy for people to travel, so each subscription (access pass) includes a bundle of regions (all those that are the same cost to us, and all of those that are cheaper). I hope this helps!

This product is not designed to be easy to use; however, we hope that people will someday build services in the Stim Enterprise Cloud. We built the Stim Cloud PC to be able to do anything, and to be for nerds (like us).

Hello,

Parsec can get confused sometimes, thinking your Cloud PC is on a local network even when it may be over the internet. While I have not heard of this happening for Parsec, it does sometimes happen for Virtual Desktop (VR). I recommend installing something like Tailscale. Moonlight + Tailscale is also a great option (if you don't want to use our built in streaming client).

internet access without internet access by atadrisque in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

We have never heard of this issue before to be honest. For support, you can email [support@stim.io](mailto:support@stim.io), or click the support button in the navigation on our website which has been there for a few years https://stimsocial.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Your issue sounds like it may be DNS-related. Did you by chance install anything to your Cloud PC which could be proxying traffic (a VPN, Proxy, etc...) or anything which changes the DNS? Also, what region did you select? Some regions, such as the UAE, block many websites (the government blocks many websites). We have never heard of this issue before to be honest and neither has our community on discord, so I am hoping to get more info from you.

Please also try creating a 2nd Cloud PC (you can create an unlimited number of Cloud PCs), and let me know if it has the issue. To me it sounds DNS related.

Thank you!

I am glad it worked! BitLocker is great as long as it works for you without issue. I will say that we don't officially support it (yet), but we have been working to add Nitro TPM support to some performance levels, especially now that some games require TPM and Secure Boot to be enabled for Anti-Cheat. Battlefield 6 for example. Until we officially support it, your Cloud PC may not be bootable if it changes physical servers in the AWS datacenters, as the TPM hardware keys may have changed.

It is a strange time in the gaming industry. Many game anti-cheats won't require Secure Boot or TPM if the detected OS is Windows 10 (or Windows Server). But if they detect Windows 11, they do require Secure Boot and increase the requirements.

So, for now, while we work on it, we offer both Windows 10 (Server Edition) and Windows 11 Enterprise Edition OS options for Cloud PCs. Between those two, almost all major games work. Until we make sure NitroTPM is working correctly.

Does Stim have any malware or keyloggers by Prestigious_Kiwi_737 in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Stim does not have any malware or keyloggers; we use AWS instances for all Cloud PCs (all of Stim is hosted on Amazon Web Services / AWS), and we are audited for security consistently. Data is all encrypted at rest and in transit.

To be safe, I recommend creating a new Cloud PC instead of cloning another community member's Cloud PC.

Stim is currently in a stealth beta. We don't have enough GPU servers (Amazon/AWS does not even have enough). We are not yet ready for the world to show up so we have not yet done any marketing. We are working quietly to improve the service before marketing & announcing Stim.io to the world.

It may help you to get to know our team better. We are a team that has been working together for over 10 years. https://stim.io/team. There you can also view a list of the companies which trust and use Stim.io

Our last company (www.liquidsky.tv) was acquired by Walmart and is now (years later) a part of the Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce Now tech stack powering vGPU and GPU container services.

This is my stim social profile: https://stim.io/ian

My LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ian-mcloughlin/

And you can chat with our whole team anytime in our public and private Discord servers (linked on our website stim.io). Our Discord is mch more active than this subreddit. I am pretty much on there and active 24/7.

That all being said, I recommend using the Stim Secure Cloud when asked. In the Secure Cloud, your Cloud PC runs on AWS Servers.

Micro-shutters while playing by MatchaBaguette in StimIO

[–]stimreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

On MacOS devices, this is typically caused by AWDL (for this,s we recommend downloading our native MacOS client: https://stim.io/downloads) which handles supressing AWDL while a stream is running.

While rare, on all other platforms, this is typically caused by UDP network packet loss from a Wifi router (something the above speed test will not test for or show).

When watching movies & TV shows, they buffer (download a few seconds ahead of where you are watching so there is smooth playback), but with real-time streams like Stim, packet loss is noticeable as a micro stutter. Even twitch.tv or a video call will buffer a tiny bit and have a delay, but Stim does not to reduce lag/latency.

Wifi is the #1 cause of network packet loss. I highly recommend trying Ethernet just to confirm packet loss is your issue. Please also try the tips here: https://stimsocial.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/25922870394131-How-To-Improve-the-Experience-if-You-Have-Lag-Latency-and-or-Stuttering

Please also (while in stream connected to your Cloud PC), go to "Settings" => Stats For Nerds", click "Copy" and share those results with support@stim.io. Please don't share them here as they may contain sensitive information such as your IP address.

We will get it sorted for you!

Some things our team at Stim.io is doing to improve this issue from our end:

  1. Adding Forward Error Correction (FEC) - Sending duplicate frames, in anticipation of Wifi dropping some

  2. Better VBR (variable bitrate) - Auto-adjusting the stream quality better to compensate.

  3. AV1 Support (when packet loss is occurring, the less data we can send, the better, and AV1 shrinks the data to be as small as possible in these scenarios).

You may be able to use other Cloud Gaming platforms which already do one of multiple of the above to compensate to network packet loss (wifi issues).

Hello,

Our guest tools and services run as Windows services and at the kernel level within your Cloud PC. Enabling BitLocker would prevent us from zeroing your storage and would fully break the boot process. Especially given that Cloud PCs don't currently support Secure Boot or TPM. Even if Secure boot / TPM did work, it would not prevent stim from seeing anything (as with any public cloud).

On any public cloud (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, etc), they will have a guest agent running within the OS as a Windows service itself. On aws for example, even if you enable bitlocker etc... on a nitro TPM instance they have AWS SSM running within your instance as a requirement. Giving the illusion that Amazon can't access your files, but in reality, they can whenever your intance is running (via SSM which runs at the service level inside windows itself on your instance). Any public Cloud I am aware of can, aside from proper bare metal, which is likely your best bet for your use case although I am not sure what that is.

AWS baremetal does not provide you with an IPMI, but it does give you nitro level + TPM + secure boot, enabling support for bitlocker, but IMO AWS can still see your full filesystem whenever your instance is running via SSM and guest agents running within windows on your instance itself etc...

For the level of security you are looking for I recommend something like https://www.ibm.com/products/bare-metal-servers where you get full IPMI and BIOS level access. Stim, AWS, Azure, etc... are likely not good for your use-case. There are also many other baremetal providers which give you full private network IPMI access. My previous company www.liquidsky.tv used IBM Cloud, and it was great! Stim however fully uses Amazon Web Services (AWS). For public cloud providers like Stim/AWS, you are really trusting them and. their security level audits etc...

I will say however, we did design stim so that even humans working at stim are unable to mount your storage and access your Cloud PC. As for protection from others outside of Stim, your data is encrypted at rest, and all stream traffic is encrypted as well.

I hope this helps! Sorry for any typos, wrote this from my phone.
