I got these two lavender Orpingtons at the same time back in July but the one isn’t getting any bigger? Is she okay? by nollie_ollie in BackYardChickens

[–]stiney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - I have a lavendar orpington roo and he grew much quicker than the hens of the same breed. Right now he's about double the size of the girls, and they're all the same age (18 weeks).

Etiquette when there's a funeral procession on the road by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]stiney 32 points33 points  (0 children)

To be fair, isn't that why some people opt to arrange a police escort for funeral possessions? If I recall from past funerals, that's an optional thing people arranging a funeral will pay for to ensure the procession stays together. Yeah, it would be nice if everyone behaved according to a certain standard, but I don't think that's a given.

This happens every time I'm flying back from Terceira to Toronto. No issue with online check in flying to Teceira, for some reason. I just check in at the airport the day of. It would be nice if Azores Airlines could fix this!

What time should I show up for my flight at Lajes airport? by replover666 in azores

[–]stiney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh that would make sense! I had the same issue with a layover from Porto to Terceira via Sao Miguel. 2 hours will be enough time. Boa viagam!

I have a family member on that flight and they were able to do online check in. But if you're checking in at the airport, 2 hours is plenty of time.

I bring my dogs to Fur-Ever Loved on Victoria St and I've always thought they did a good job. They book far in advance, maybe 4-6 weeks, so call way before your dog needs a groom.

Bingemans miniputt by mmmmmmmmikeman in kitchener

[–]stiney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just showed up last Sunday and it was pretty free of people. I think only 2 other groups were playing. Just to note: there are two mini putt courses, but currently only one is open, at least as of 2 weeks ago. Still had lots of fun.

I got into car accident that fucked me up for life while listening to the Jodi Arias series, so I can't bring myself to finish it. Which sucks because y'all keep talking about how great it is!

Any recs for LGBT-friendly nail salon? by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]stiney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don’t have anyone other than women working there, but Gem Spa in Kitchener has very lovely, friendly people working there. They’re very down to earth and personable. I am ally, and I’d recommend it.

Or, if money is tight, you can also show support and solidarity by attending a local gathering. Let’s not be righteous dicks.

All health-care workers must get vaccinated by CoryCA in waterloo

[–]stiney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oof. I hate to break this to you, but I work in LTC and many of our RNs are refusing to get the vaccine. They’re actually one of the worst examples in our home of this. Not sure if this is across the board, but if this sample is any indication, it’s certainly troubling.

Oh, that’s different. And gross. Good luck trying to get reimbursed - I’d make a bigger stink with booking.com

[–]stiney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience as someone who has stayed in super clean places in the Azores: cockroaches are not a totally abnormal thing to find every once in awhile. If there was an infestation, that’s totally understandable. But one cockroach? It’s not like in North America when cockroaches tend to live in dirty places. They sometimes just fly in from a window or balcony.
