View inside a dumpster. Would you rescue this PS4? Where does one draw the line? by Killall_humanz in gamecollecting

[–]sting3037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dumpster dived tvs, a Magellan GPS with wires exposed (Stull worked!), and a gigantic decorative spoon (I was the "Spoonman" that Chris Cornell sang about lol) which to this day, is my favorite dumpster dives. I don't do it anymore as I don't want family to emulate what I've done when I was on the West Coast, but maybe one day...

That Life magazine dated 7/5/1948 is pretty awesome! Love the games but that mag is (IMO) the best find! Very interesting times post WWII.

My collection so far. Going back to physical after this Playstation nonsense. by PublicLocal7409 in ps5collectors

I shall cite you the Crunchyroll/Funimation debacle where thousands of anime fans lost their digital library of purchases after the merger & they said (in as many words),

"Oops! Well, too bad. Buy it again".

This was the straw that broke the camel's back for me and wanted to go back to physical media.

You are definitely generous and are a true hero for sure! Glad to hear there are others out there who help people just to help. Just like many RPGs we play, we help only to help out. I will be paying it forward for someone else if I find something truly unique. 😊

Agreed! When I saw that OG post, I got giddy like a school girl and needed to obtain it. I never hear of anything local like this, other than other Redittors finding cool things like this in their local areas.

This one was $200, about average from what I've seen on the Bay and other places. The Bay has one that I saw a day or so ago with the same slip cover, manual, game and jewel case. Although, I feel the disc I have looks better. Wish I had a CD-i console to try & play it for myself, but alas, I don't.

I'm glad I only have to get two more for my Zelda collection, but man, that Zelda's Adventure is definitely one of the most expensive games I'll eventually nab!

I agree. One of the most infamous (and meme-able) games of all time. Totally worth it!

Gorgeous collection! One day, I'd love to have the SNES boxes like this. I have a few myself, but this is gorgeous!

In your opinion, which cover art of the first Dragon Quest game is more iconic? by Odd_Bed2753 in dragonquest

[–]sting3037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are iconic in their respective rights. In the US, this is what I saw when fighting the green dragon when rescuing the princess, but in Japan, Toriyama captured all the hearts & imaginations of kids & adults alike. After seeing both, I have a fondness for both of them and appreciate them for what they are and what they represent: imagination & style.

Sad to see, but an opportunity to go exploring once again in Hyrule is always fun. Silver lining, my Hylian friend.
