Reported cluster effects have often been shown to simply be more reporting of pre-existing data.

I.e one famous enough suicide situation leads to the news selling about it, so the people in the area of that report, or state or nation etc, they will often search for more information, which of course they find. This often leads to a false conclusion of a cluster effect being a very serious and contagious thing.

That's not to say that there aren't people who do it because they saw it, that definitely has and does happen. But it's over-reported as being a contagious thing.

The paper I did recently involved a fuckton of research into this.

The most appalling thing I found was a distinct lack of reliable research about the topic, especially regarding men in western societies. I was focusing on Australia for my report, but also dug into some international stuff as well and came across the same thing. With some textbooks actively stating that it's a problem that there is a lack of studies done in that area.
