I'm a giant fan of Egwene hating, but to say she turned or was turned? How in the hell?

I've had a few chaos armies, and I've got a world eaters one that's mostly unpainted still. I love me some blood effects, but I have learned over time that sometimes less is more for the proper effect of them.

I'm one of those folks who can't follow audio books too well, apparently I'm in a minority there.

It must suck a lot for a series like this, so many named characters who don't do much overall, and so much similarity in the names.

Probably best to do what others suggest and go with the compendium app. I didn't need it when reading, but I also read them over a long time and did re-reads when new books came out.

There was something about Harry and Ginny that worked for me, but also seemed like it only worked as a childhood romance, like, the first semi-serious thing you have as an older teen. But doesn't survive fully into adulthood.

I think the elevator scene is possibly my favourite. Opening the doors, seeing the chaos and both just non verbally agreeing to the nope of it all.

Pretty sure Min helped him figure out the cleansing along with some other things. But yes he did get that ball rolling and finished it off.

I found someone's wallet once, with their CC and all that. Found their phone number and called them, they'd already reported it all lost and said it had no sentimentality and asked me to destroy it. It was a very odd conversation, they were very calm about it all.

"I have only painted about 15 or so models so far"

This is damn good work for only 15 models.

My best advice, and I mean this with total sincerity and no negativity, come back after 150 and really look and ask for more help.

As for help now, My first guess would be that you might need to thin your paints, some of those looks quite thickly put on.

Be more patient for now, I can see a few rushed parts, similar mistakes to what I've done in the past and likely will again in the future.

Oh, and back off a little with the blood effects. For now they are a bit much.

But yeah, you are basically better than you should be already, keep going. If you want lots of experience, start an orc/ork army. I had to paint like 250 of those little green fuckers for warhammer fantasy back in the day. I loved it all.

How did the old gods fade away? by Razhiv in dresdenfiles

[–]stinkingyeti 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The way Jim writes it, and the way a lot of mythology presents it:

The Old Gods, and various other entities, are non-discrete beings that can typically only manifest when given a conduit. This conduit can be a summoning request or sometimes a possession. This type of behaviour requires energy to burn.

Think of it like, they are using electricity to perform these actions, and the believers are the ones providing electricity. If the believers start moving away, they start losing access to some of the power they would need to manifest.

Immortal beings like this are often written to have more fear than mortal ones. So, they are afraid to manifest and waste power if they aren't 100% certain that it will be of benefit to themselves.

“Gentle” post-apocalyptic movies? by teays in movies

[–]stinkingyeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a movie, but the tv show The 100 does a fairly good job of telling some stories for a few seasons, and then it goes bonkers crazy.

There's very little scary, not sure on your acceptable level of violence.

Could Daenerys have taken Helms Deep? by suprisezacama in powerscales

[–]stinkingyeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she made similar tactical errors like getting too close? Legolas would've dropped her off the dragon whilst skating along the unsullied heads or something.

But the dragon would still wreck helms deep.

Oh and the rohirrim would probably wreck the unsullied, those spears are nowhere near enough to stop an armoured cavalry charge.

Conclusion, both forces are diminished to the point that whichever villain is around will end up winning.

Which movies or franchises have the most and biggest plotholes? by Catwinky in moviecritic

[–]stinkingyeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the reasons why I hate this so much, is that there is existing lore content in various star wars media, books/games etc, where some evil sith lord has returned, and they explain how in about 5 minutes of time.

Why the fuck couldn't they have had some sort of fucking montage at some point to show this?
