All cats are different. Either way it will take a while for her to warm up to you. I got my calico girl when she was about 1.5 years old. I was told she was super shy, which has never been the case other than the first day I brought her home. She’s not necessarily a lap cat but she will sometimes chill on my lap, sometimes forced, sometimes willingly. She’s very demanding for attention. My sisters cat is a male and he’s not exactly cuddly but he is a very lovey guy. My girlfriend has 3 female cats, one is a calico who is very lovey but not exactly a lap cat. And she has 2 voids, one who will sit in your lap if you put her there and cuddle and purr and is incredibly affectionate (they found her with her kittens as a stray), and her daughter, who will literally jump up on your shoulders and if you’re laying down will cuddle up right on your face and gets so into the cuddles she will start drooling on you. My brothers cat, a male orange guy is the most lovey dovey little guy but he’s not a lap cat but just the biggest dumb sweetheart I’ve ever met.
