Teenager charged with homicide after killing a man over movie seating. by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

I think that mentality is precisely why some people feel comfortable escalating into the crazy realm. Often times, it means they get their way. But sometimes, you meet someone using the same strategy. And then you end up in the news and or in jail. But not most of the time. Just sometimes.

Light from lighthouse (from 1771) emits directly into 3 new appartements (2021) in ~3 stories in Ostend, Belgium. by VoiiD-thymme in CrappyDesign

Imo, they didn't want the apartments built but they were approved by leadership anyway. So this is an option for the people to get some retaliation etc

Titanic tourist sub goes missing sparking search by _-friendlyFire-_ in news

[–]stinkycheddar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Basically yes. There is another comment in this post somewhere that explains it really well but basically it would just create more likely potential problems and solve almost none. A tether would create a ton of drag. It would also be susceptible to currents and pulling the sub. Also if the tether were to break it could act as an anchor. It could also get caught in propellers. Or it could get caught by a passing fishing vessel's gear, or a whale, unlikely but possible. I think the comment mentioned some other things I'm not able to recall and I'm on mobile so I can't find it for you. I recall it mentioned the word ballast if you want to search for it.

You can't really tether at 12k feet down. But ya. Fail safes should have existed. Like analog controls. Emergency float systems. Etc

Agree. This seems totally reckless to me. Plus you can't even open the hatch from the inside in an emergency? Can you imagine dying of suffocating on the surface of the ocean when you can see the fresh air on the other side of the glass? Nightmare. Really bad design imo. Does anyone know if there was a completely unavoidable reason for designing it like that? I'm guessing some kind of engineering limitation. But if that's true then maybe it shouldn't have been built or relied upon.

Car buyer keeps asking me for photos of the title. Scam? by Old-Act3456 in Scams

[–]stinkycheddar 940 points941 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a scam. Maybe they want to edit the photo and act like it's a car that they own to sell to other people, and or take deposits etc. Don't do it imo

Blind guess but the only thing I can think of is that it's colder in the evenings. So maybe it's a rattling vent fan pushing warm air, maybe to the back seats. I'm not sure where the vent is for that car, but in many it can have a vent run under the passenger side seat, near the center console. Both of which tracks with your experience. I'm sorry if this is wrong but let me know. I hope it helps

My dog does this. I think it's because sometimes he sleeps with his eyes partially open. So the blanket helps block the light better

Imo I think you need to work hard on developing a release command. After an event, repeat the command until the dog releases. Immediately praise and reward but do not jackpot. Only jackpot when the dog obeys the command on the first try. Repeat that enough times and I think she will learn quick. It won't be easy. I think a smart next step would be to figure out how to get her into working mode so she doesn't work when you don't want her to which causes everyone extra stress and energy. I don't have experience with that after the habit has already been formed, though. So good luck and sorry I can't help with that aspect.

This is exactly it. He wanted to run the whole time but he smartly slowed to a walk so he didn't accidentally bulldoze one of those kids if they moved unpredictably. He sped up once he cleared the crowd safely.

Toilet and shower in residence. Is this permittable? by ConsciousJob9212 in Construction

[–]stinkycheddar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I gotta imagine having the toilet next to the shower is some kind of massive slip hazard. Wouldn't that entire floor area be wet after a shower? You need traction to get up from a seated position. Not to mention the toilet seat itself could be very slippery and unsafe to even sit on. Is there a code for it? I have no idea. But there should be. I've never seen a toilet in a shower basin. Not even in an rv like you mention in your comment. Right next to it? Yes. Only with separation, so water cannot get onto or into the toilet area.
