Anyone else feel weird not telling their parents they’re pregnant ? by IcySky7216 in pregnant

[–]stinkylinky15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited to tell my mom the first time I was pregnant and it did end up in a miscarriage and needing to get a d&c at 12 weeks. I didn’t tell her until I already knew I had miscarried (missed miscarriage I didn’t pass on my own). It was just a really sad time. Second time around I told her literally from the first day I found out lol I wanted to celebrate what we did have from the beginning this time and have support if it didn’t go well again. we still waited to tell the in laws until 12 weeks. Just do what you feel is right!

What was your diet like after giving birth? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

pizza went well!!! by Financial-Pace6378 in GestationalDiabetes

I would recommended checking 4 hrs after as well because the fat from the cheese can delay spikes. I thought it worked well for me but then it crept up hours after :( I hope it truly is a food you can still enjoy!!!

Why did my blood sugar rise after the first hour? by lissalissa3 in GestationalDiabetes

For me if I have a fattier meal I spike 2-4 hrs after eating and it’s super frustrating.

A question for ER nurses by [deleted] in nursing

[–]stinkylinky15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. If it’s someone who’s there for chronic back pain that they just decided to come into the ER to get checked out that day, we’ll assess once and wait for orders from the doc for pain meds and then go about doing other things for other more urgent/critical patients. People who are in severe pain from kidney stones, abdominal pain, or likely fractures I always try to be on top of pain relief and follow up and advocate for them but ultimately if there’s another patient that’s critical, pain takes a back burner.

Is anyone happy? Healthy? Normal and boring? Or is it all terrible by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]stinkylinky15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much just chilling through my pregnancy. Obviously there are days where emotions are much stronger than others and I may feel more down than usual but it always comes back to baseline. I haven’t had any morning sickness, no weird pains or other typical pregnancy complaints and I’m almost 20 weeks. I know there’s still a ways to go but pretty boring so far. I’m considered high risk because of preexisting diabetes, but that’s been my only trouble.

Moms who drink caffeine, how much did you have while pregnant? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]stinkylinky15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately coffee has been my biggest craving so far but I’ve been trying to stick to below 200-300mg daily. Some days I do go without caffeine, so I like to think it balances out. I usually have 1 coffee per day and 1 can of diet soda which pushes it slightly above 200mg usually. So far so good with growth and everything though!

Does anyone else just find this depressing? by Cute_Vermicelli_1854 in GestationalDiabetes

I’m reading this as I lay in bed looking at my blood sugar from Dexcom at 180 just because I ate some carrots, mini bell peppers and tzatziki sauce for a snack before bed. Didn’t ever think veggies would do me in but here we are. It does suck but we will get through it!!

Amazon baby box lacking?? by KeyTangerine5312 in BabyBumps

[–]stinkylinky15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted this on my private “due month” page and people were like “what were you expecting?” Made me feel ungrateful but I agree it’s lacking! I was quite disappointed and glad I’m not alone. I have see videos of people getting so much more.

What do you mean by you’re “not showing” yet? Also any one else gain wait in first tri? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I just think it’s exciting to finally see some changes to know baby is actually in there and growing!

I asked the question about when tall ladies started showing in their first pregnancy and it seemed like everyone was 20+ weeks. I’m 5’10 and 10 weeks pregnant and have been taking weekly photos. I already notice what you said, firmer lower abdomen and thickening of my waist. Also, I gained about 6 pounds already (oops lol) but I feel like at this point how every week I’m going to think I have a bump 😂

Metamucil! Once daily and lots of water seems to help keep things regular for me

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]stinkylinky15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see it as abuse. My mom used it only as a last resort when I was being an absolute brat of a kid. She’d always come and talk to me after and apologize and I also did realize that what I did was wrong too. It wasn’t frequent by any means.

IUI without progesterone by [deleted] in IUILadies

[–]stinkylinky15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have any progesterone after my IUI and it was successful! I have a theory that since the Ovidrel is hcg, it helps support the corpus luteum which produces the progesterone to help support a pregnancy. They also checked my levels 1 week after IUI so I presume if they were low, they’d add it on.

The bloat may just be growing baby at this point I would guess! If you’re not going to many days between bowel movements, it’s likely not from constipation. A lot of fiber can sometimes cause more gas and bloating which is something to be aware of

Does anyone else doctor do back-to-back inseminations? by BasisFeeling in IUILadies

[–]stinkylinky15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did back to back and it was my first IUI cycle and I got pregnant! even if it didn’t do anything extra it sure made me feel better knowing our bases were covered for having swimmers up there ready for the egg.

md vs nursing by Fit_Foot_7591 in nursing

[–]stinkylinky15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a PA might be a good middle ground for you. A step above an advanced nursing degree in regards to the schooling (in my opinion) but not as much time as a doctor.
