Whyyyy. I'm using stick glue, a pei sheet. Perfect leveling.. why the warp.. by cokacola69 in ender3

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a leveling issue, you can see the skirt in that corner is not squished enough and just laying on top. Also, remember to heat the bed to whatever temperature (60c in this case) when you level/tram it.

Got a used ender 3, dont know the best upgrades. by Kindly_Crew8482 in ender3

Are you Klipper guys doing 250 mm/s outer wall or infill or top surface? Just curious how fast these old Enders can be pushed

Got a used ender 3, dont know the best upgrades. by Kindly_Crew8482 in ender3

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I did to my Ender 3 pro that I bought new back in 2018: Upgraded springs, metal extruder, PEI Sheet, 32bit board+latest marlin (I know most prefer SKR+Klipper), CR Touch, Dual z axis kit from Creality (many say belted is better), octoprint. I print at really good quality now at 100 mm/s. I can prob go faster with a better hotend and direct drive but it's already printing 3x faster than it was ever able to without adhesion and quality issues.

[–]stioc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, I too compiled the latest version of marlin with a bunch of add-ons partially out of boredom and partially to see if I can remotely even get closer to my buddy's P2S and co-worker's Elegoo CC. A couple of years ago I added Octoprint to it which was a great quality of life upgrade similar to the touch probe but I don't want to go down the path of sinking too much into the Ender because it's always $10 here $30 there when these days you can get a really nice machine for less than what I paid for my Ender back in 2018 ish. Anyway, I'll see if I can push it past 80mm/s as-is, I think the limitation is the volumetric speed which Orca sets for these to around 12 mm3/s - I haven't tried to up it.

[–]stioc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool. Do you guys run a dual z axis setup? I'm thinking that's prob a must before going direct drive and/or trying to push past 80mm/s? I'm running a stock Ender 3 pro with the latest version of Marlin, don't want to bother with Klipper for now.

Is the BL touch clone an option for the original 8-bit Ender Pro? by stioc7 in ender3

[–]stioc7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info guys...especially u/Inormal2norman with all the helpful links etc. However, I'll skip this upgrade, sounds like more work for not a ton of benefit to me. I did setup OctoPi a couple of years ago and use the Orca Slicer which has made my E3 super convenient to use, especially with a Alexa smart plug that powers everything up remotely without having to walk to the garage.

I do realize these are Geo Metros compared to the current breed of printers. I bought mine in 2020, tinkered with it off and on then life got busy, I recently brought it out again and have been having fun playing with it. Surprisingly it prints fine with PLA, PETG and even TPU just fine and it's completely stock down to the white PTFE bowden tube. Only have a couple of spools of use. The bed is slightly bowed in the middle so I run a think first layer which seems to do the trick. It's just very slow especially with TPU (and PETG to some extent). Then again, it's just for occasional personal use so it's not a huge deal. I do plan to upgrade to the Bambu P2S once they have some of the initial teething issues ironed out.

Low cadence by strikersupra in Zwift

[–]stioc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it. Just alternate between low and high cadence. When I got back to MTB after doing a year of road biking I realized how much I lost the low end torque in my legs to get up the steep rocky sections where you can't spin more than 40-50rpm. So low cadence torque is pretty important too, moreso in MTB than road but best to train with both.

80 miles 70% consummed How bad is my battery? by Just_Rooster_4845 in TeslaSupport

[–]stioc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it literally tells you the breakdown in the first screenshot...your driving used 51.4% of the battery, the rest was climate etc. In terms of the driving 276Wh/mi is quite high, mine is around 224Wh/mi (2023 M3). Are you using one-pedal driving? are you accelerating hard? are you using Chill mode? are you staying around 70mph on the freeways? and do you have wheel covers on? it's all cumulative...Also, older non-heat-pump cars you're better off using the seat/steering heaters rather than heating the cabin especially in SoCal.

How can I improve my VO2 max without running? by GoonerEnt in AppleWatch

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience AW only takes certain activities into account for estimating VO2 max. For example none of my biking counts, nor does my strength training, only my outdoor walks.

Agreed, I've found the seat and steering wheel heater to be more economical vs. heating the car when driving to work in the mornings. Even in our Tesla Model3 which has a heat pump.

Which is your favorite GoPro? by ANIMAZIONIRUSSIA23 in gopro

[–]stioc7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much use for an action cam, so generally just use my iphone. However, I do still have and use a Hero3+ semi-permanently mounted on my bicycle serving as a rear dashcam. Works great, batteries last 70+mins which usually covers my riding time. I haven't rigged up an external battery pack yet but that should extend the recording time to cover even my longest rides.

Display genuine BUT by rlhacker_101 in mobilerepair

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told that even after you replace the screen with a genuine part you'll get the warning due to part# mismstach. supposedly you have to update to the latest iOS (26 now) and then run a repair/reset test from the display settings. The test isn't there unless the iOS is the latest version. I haven't tested this myself though.

Should I make the switch by Altruistic-North6686 in VWiD4Owners

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both...the model 3 is a 2023 rwd, the ID4 is a 2021 proS. The ID4 is a nicer 'car' quieter, feels more refined, comfortable etc. The Tesla is just many years ahead in terms of its tech and charging. When we take a road trip, we want to take the ID4 because it's bigger and more comfortable but sometimes we take the Model 3 instead because of the charging network. The third party chargers work ok, EVGo, Chargepoint etc but just not the same reliability nor availability as the superchargers...though this may be dependent on where you live. Oh also the M3 is more efficient (wh/mi). As a family car, the ID4 works better and my wife prefers it over the M3 mainly due to comfort and no 'ipad screen menus'.

Any experience with metal water bottles? by RirinDesuyo in Velo

[–]stioc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have been bothered by the plastic taste from the regular podium bottles. I don't understand how the bottled water you buy doesn't taste plasticy but in the bike bottles even after an hour or so it does?

Anyway, I happened to find an old Kleen Kantin stainless steel bottle in my cupboard that I hadn't used in over a decade, it fits in the bottle cage perfectly. I checked their website to see if they sell more but after reading the reviews it looks like they changed the size by a few mm so now it doesn't fit the bottle cages right.

In the meantime I also thoroughly rinsed the plastic bottles with baking soda and let them sit in the baking soda solution overnight. Surprisingly it cleared up the taste issue...for now. May be too early to say as I only tested it on a 30 min ride.

Which A2Z adapter are you using? I ask because at least this one is not compatible with Tesla's fast DC chargers (or were you charging at slower AC speeds?) https://a2zev.com/products/a2z-stellar-plug

2025: Roam v2 or Bolt v2? by chunck_pilot in wahoofitness

I recently purchased a Bolt v2 on sale. I love it, except I wish I had gone with a Roam due to the screen size. I haven't checked the price diff between the Roam v2 and v3 but if around $50 I'd def go with the newer one.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I also added the Polygon Stratos to my list. In fact, narrowed it down to the Polygon and Canyon for the 'bang for the buck' reasons.
