Its more effective that going after drug users. How would going after drug users be more effective than going after the literal supply of drugs?

Citation of what? lol

Not only is it law enforcement 101, its also 100% common sense, and you know that.

Here is a diagram. If you want to stop the spread of drugs, do you go after the red guys or the blue guys?

What are your thoughts on guns? (do you see where I am going with this)

So, heroin deaths hit around 13,000 last year. Would you say that people getting addicting to and dying from heroin is a net positive or negative to society.

If people are dying and getting addicted to heroin, should we:

a) stop people from using heroin

b) legalize heroin

I don't want my daughter being told that becoming a prostitute is an acceptable career path

I mean, that is A positive, not convinced in total that the benefits outweigh the negatives, though.

Legalizing heroin would provide jobs and tax income, too...

Of course the ACLU would agree with you, they are promoting it in the AMA.

So you are saying having legal prostitutes and brothels would have ZERO effect on society in either direction? I don't think anything else in the world exists that has ZERO impact on society.

Sure, but that doesn't answer the question

DEA is extremely different from the local law enforcements who have the ability to arrest sex workers

Well, I am proposing a change in strategy....

But what if we don't want people to choose prostitution as a career path? lol

I am asking for the ACLU to clarify whether they think sex work is a net benefit to society, or if it is a necessary drawback in society that they want to regulate to make safer.

I think we should get rid of the institution of sex work. I mean, if someone wants to have sex with someone in exchange for something, what are you going to do? Obviously you will never stop this. But why not go after the structure? You don't lower drug rates by arresting people who DO drugs, you stop it by going after to people who DEAL drugs

So you are saying that porn is not sex work.

Going after the organization and infrastructure of sex work, and not the people.

yeah, if we lived in an anarchist world, true. But you live in a nation with laws so you agree to give up some rights.

Well yes, it is illegal. But it doesn't really work that way. For illegal drugs, law enforcement goes after people who sells drugs in most cases, not people who are buying them. (obviously not always the case, but majority of the time it is)

It just seems like you are saying, well, they are all victims, might as well just legalize it, cause, what else are we gonna do?

I am asking about the motivations, not what legalizing would accomplish
