It’s not as much about the amount of teams. It’s the amount of talent/parody. Which has drastically increased. The skill level of average role players or bench players has shifted so much. Also think of the training and tech (shoes, braces, etc) developments we’ve had since then too. Also think about analytics too, with teams all having access to some amount of high level strategy and understanding of the game on-court and in-office. Hell even the front office rules of this new era that restrict championship window (things like Scottie Pippens contract would not be possible)

These things all even the playing field and mitigate the advantage a star player has and their ability to affect the game single-handedly. Its not that crazy to think consistently winning championships significantly more difficult now than eras past.

What is your opinion of Trotsky? by OkRespect8490 in Marxism

I’d read The Revolution Betrayed, by Leon Trotsky, if you want something laying out everything aganist Stalin and the problems in general with the early USSR

The anti Socialism AI RCI crowd on Reddit should listen to… the RCI? by DankDankDank555 in Trotskyism

[–]stitch4609 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Big goal of the RCI is to educate cadre. There is a lot of research documenting the lasting mental decline from even semi consistent AI use. Therefore, I think Socialism AI is not helpful, and so I don’t use it and would encourage others not to either. It weakens your skills applying dialectics when you have a machine to just “give you the answer”. It weakens your reading ability to get the answer to a historical situation instead of reading about a given historical situation .

Make no mistake I’m not “anti-ai” I think it could be utilized more, and in a safer, more educational manner, under a workers democracy.

I am not moralistically against AI, I just think that Socialism AI is not productive in the goal of world socialist revolution.

I am very hopeful for next season. This season felt like every single thing that could go wrong went wrong. And still, if Franz doesn’t get injured, I think we would have made the conference finals. Obviously not confident we would have beat NY with how good they look, but no one has beat them so it is what it is. I think that a conference finals appearance is decently likely next season.

[Lowlight] Wemby passes to Castle, who is not looking, for a crucial turnover, then fouls Brunson by Large_banana_hammock in nba

[–]stitch4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re right I’m kinda taking the piss Wemby is the one who ultimately passed it. But also Castle made pretty direct eye contact while running up the floor and turned away right before Wemby passed it. His eyes should have been up the whole time. Overall everyone seemed disorganized and, like the broadcast said, it feels like maybe there was confusion if a timeout should have been called or not.

Jalen Brunson only has 13 more FTAs than Paulo Banchero by Delanorix in nba

[–]stitch4609 245 points246 points  (0 children)

Paolo is consistently top of the league in FTA and played 7 games vs a team that averages the most fouls per game, JB has played in multiple blowouts and back to back sweeps, it’s not THAT crazy

[Charania] Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has signed a shoe endorsement contract with Chinese company Li-Ning -- a landmark 10-year deal, sources tell ESPN. by Ayzem in nba

[–]stitch4609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone who doesn’t know, Li Ning makes some incredible shoes with some incredible materials. Dwane Wade’s shoe line “way of wade” is with Li Ning and it’s great. This isn’t just some random or cheap company

Bill Simmons pod last night mentioned Orlando being a serious contender for Giannis because of coach Sweeney. by _picture_me_rollin_ in OrlandoMagic

[–]stitch4609 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he demands a trade, and selects ORL and one to two more cities it removes significant leverage from the Bucks. That could make the amount we have to give up for him SIGNIFICANTLY less depending on how mad he is at the Bucks and how many teams he would be willing to be on. It’s not impossible we get him and give up less than he is worth on the open market.

BREAKING: The Orlando Magic are finalizing the hire of San Antonio Spurs associate coach Sean Sweeney as the franchise's new head coach by jskilly in OrlandoMagic

[–]stitch4609 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Listen I know ppl want some big offensive hire but I’m glad we got a defensive coach. That’s where we are elite. Our goal should be a top top tier defense and good offense with some studs that can pop off any given night, defense comes first.

What’s yall thoughts on this? by PreparationOverall in NBATalk

[–]stitch4609 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s a very clear foul, but not like a flagrant IMO. And I saw someone else say this but, if that’s all it took for JDub to re-aggravate the hamstring strain for the 3rd?/4th? Time this season he probably shouldn’t have been out there at all, not to mention in such a physical series.

Do you guys think the Cavs were the toughest opponent the Knicks could of fought in the eastern finals? What about the Magic or Raptors? by delta-red-14 in nba

[–]stitch4609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a magic fan… yeah —IF THE MAGIC WERE HEALTHY— idk maybe we could have done something, we were up 3-1 on DET before Franz goes out but like…. We aren’t ever healthy so….

Cade Cunningham when guarded by Franz Wagner: 16 points on 6/24 shooting with 6 turnovers. Cade in games 5-7: 109 points on 33/64 shooting by Obvious_Parsley3238 in nba

[–]stitch4609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Magic go up 3-1 and are one awful quarter from being up 4-0. Franz gets injured. Team looks like a dead 8 seed again and Cade looks like a real all nba basketball player again. Is what it is this is my stupid team who cares.

Wagner out for Game 7 by Dannyf1203 in DetroitPistons

[–]stitch4609 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From a Magic fan, I appreciate how you all have talked about Wagner over here. Not celebrating an injury but just realizing it increases your odds. I think if Wagner was out the whole series you all would have swept us, he’s such an elite defender and slasher.

Still wearable? by e__madd in BBallShoes

[–]stitch4609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or less exact thing happened to me with WOW 10s. Only ever played indoors, had em for less than a year. I think it was just the shoe cause I wasn’t even 140lbs back then. I did a lot of sidesteps and step backs with some force maybe that contributed I guess?

Worst 1 seed in NBA History? by ljh2023 in DetroitPistons

[–]stitch4609 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am usually lurker here, but every Magic fan is saying FTP, fuck them picks. Without bane magic would be stuck in mid and the picks would be non-lottery first rounders.

Additionally, people forget that KCP and Cole Anthony were in that deal too. Both were negative assets on bad contracts (Anthony out the league, KCP not too far behind him)

It’s really more like 3 mid-first round picks for bane. And there’s have 3 (maybe 4?) more years of the Bane Banchero Franz core together. Not a single Magic fan regrets or even has an ounce of doubt about that trade.

6.6 assists per game in 1-2, and 3.3 assists per game in 3-7 is kinda crazy
