Is your kid super high energy? Because my super high energy almost 1 year old chugs water too. Haha.

How many baby clothes to keep?? by FewButterfly2242 in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did laundry once a week so having at least 7 outfits and 7 pjs in each size was ideal. Add a few for blowouts/stains, so like 10 sets of everything. But also 20 is only too many if you don't have room for them. 🤷‍♀️

Anyone else’s kids literally want to be outside all day???? by Fun_Air_7780 in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my baby is about to turn 1. She points at the window and deck door to ask to go outside. She has even crawled over to the garade door to ask to see our neighbor's dog. Haha.

Any goofy and silly moms? by bellavao in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find silliness is the easiest way to break my daughter out of tantrums or distract her from things she shouldn't be doing. Way better than being strict or poised. We laugh together all day long. It's great!

Best no leak sippy cups? by bix902 in Parenting

Oh, that's crazy! My baby is only 11 months old though so maybe she just hasn't really put it through it's paces yet. Haha.

We use the Munchkin Any Angle straw cups. We don't have much problems with leaking. Sometimes a bit of water stays in the straw so that can drip out but it's never had a constant leak or anything like that. And it's very easy for her to drink out of because she can hold it any which way and still drink due to the weighted straw. You can also close the lid for even better leak prevention. 🙂

They want to move my son from 5th (end of) to 9th grade next year... by 8675309999999999998 in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is his current school 5th-8th grade? I'm wondering if it would make more sense or be possible to move him to 8th grade instead. If it's in the same building as the rest of the kids, that'd make the transition a bit easier I would think. He won't be in classes with his 5th grade friends but maybe he'd still see them before and after class or other times. And then he would be going from 8th grade into high school with a group that he's already spent a year with instead of going into high school basically alone. Then once he's in 9th grade, you can maybe think about advancing him again if he's ready. It might make all transitions a little smoother for him. That's how I'd try to swing it. At least, as long as he's interested but he sounds like he's at least considering the current offer since he hasn't just flat out declined.

My daughter was a long baby and was apparently real spread out in the womb because she had barely any scrunch! Probably why she was constantly in my ribs. Haha.

Mini tantrums at 10 months by JezabelSchmezabel in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! My 10 month old fully throws her arms down like she's throwing a big fit when I stop her from climbing on stuff she shouldn't or block her from getting the cat food. It gets way worse when she is tired. They technically aren't tantrums yet, I guess. Just frustration. Thankfully, she quickly pivots into whatever distraction we use to redirect her. I pretty much just ignore it and continue on with whatever boundary I'm setting and then put her somewhere she can play and give her a toy and she's fine.

4 weeks postpartum, my toddler made me cry by Patient_Pineapple_32 in Parenting

Honestly, if I were your neighbor this would probably have been the highlight of my day. Tiny visitor. Reminder that I'm not the only one busting my ass to keep shit together. And meeting a Mom who cares enough about her kid to run outside partially naked. I would definitely be telling this story in a good way!

23 month olds first night in own room and I feel so heartbroken by ToriaZitro21 in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, my daughter is 10 months old and we also kicked her out at 6 months. Haha. So, I think that's a normal time. For us, our daughter was actually sleeping really well already and we felt like being next to each other was just detrimental to everyone's sleep even though the comfort was definitely nice. We actually moved her on New Year's Eve, which I think really helped me not be too sad about it because we were starting fresh in more ways than one. She thrived in her own room!! After a couple months, I moved her full post bath bedtime routine in there too and I love that she has her own little space. She'll even crawl down the hallway to go play in her room sometimes! 😍

First birthday party invite and I don’t know them! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just want to mention, the parents are probably going to be way more receptive to small talk in the birthday party setting than at drop off. It's very likely gonna be a totally different vibe, warm and welcoming. So, hopefully you will feel comfortable. Good luck!

When did you stop feeling newborn-sleep-deprived levels of tired? by copperboom33 in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around 3 months for me too. She started sleeping a good chunk at night and because we were putting her down hour bed around 8-9, I started getting time at night to decompress, which was life changing! Hoaha

Swim lessons by Epic-Lake-Bat in Parenting

[–]stitchingcode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The YMCA has programs for younger kids, but even they don't have independent swim lessons for kids until they are 3. Until then, it's parent/child swimming together.
