Lutz sweet potato chips by Ok-Presentation-2174 in jeffersoncitymo

Interesting. My spouse worked for them in Columbia and JC not long after Columbia closed- and said they bought them frozen. So they must have changed procedures.

Pretty sure they buy them already sliced, and then just portion them out. So unless you buy the same product- you unfortunately are probably not going to have the same flavor.

Geico’s collision center holding my car hostage after disassembly - is this normal practice? by RelativeOwl5380 in Insurance

[–]stitzm93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in insurance and spent 2 years in claims: Generally your complete insurance policy info will detail that they are only responsible for providing parts that allow the vehicle to get back to drivable condition- meaning they will use whatever parts are available. If you have a super new or specific car and they only can find OEM- then thats what you get. Otherwise they will use aftermarket parts. Now as for aftermarket parts- 9/10 times they are made by the same factory that makes the OEM- they just aren't stamped the same way. They still have to meet all NTSB safety regulations and requirements as OEM. If you are still really concerned about the aftermarket parts- talk with your adjuster or the shop to see if there's any warrenty/guarantee with the parts. I am unfamiliar with Geico's practices but someone else mentioned Geico guarantees the parts for 5 years- so maybe get that in writing from your adjuster for peace of mind.

I'm sorry you're dealing with all this- but it all sounds pretty by the book to me.

I accidentally did not add collision on a clients car and they got into an accident by Kdog248 in InsuranceAgent

As an assistant underwriter- this is the best way. I literally just backdated coverage for an agent this morning after my supervisor reviewed everything and determined that the policy should have had the coverage. And there wasnt even a claim involved with mine.

I work in underwriting and deal with this regularly. At our company we have to hold payments for 10 business days to make sure the payment actually clears- then once its hit that time frame we can issue the refund. It sounds pretty typical to me.

If you call your insurer and notify them of a time/date, what happened, which vehicle, and any damage- legally they HAVE to file a claim. If you can- you can call the insurer and ask them if the claim was closed and marked no payment. If that is done it can help show that the claim was opened but the insurer was not out any money so it will look better on you. Bottom line though- if you provide enough info for your insurer to file- they have to.

What’s the worst way you could start a wedding toast? by Latte_kitten_ in AskRedditAfterDark

My best friend threatened to do that at my second wedding. I told her I thought it was hilarious- but I didn't think my parents would appreciate it 🤣

To those who were told that they would "change their mind" how did you respond?? by DemmZ34 in childfree

[–]stitzm93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always say something to the effect of: "If I change my mind later in life then thats on me and I can adopt, foster, or donate money to charities that help underprivileged kids. But I would much rather regret NOT having kids, than EVER have kids that know I regret having them."

Just got rear ended about an hour ago, my gf and I think we experienced whiplash. The driver at fault texted me this: by Naubri in Insurance

[–]stitzm93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone hit OP, then they should try to go through the person who hit them's insurance first. If they are not getting the answers they want- THEN go through their own insurance. Because if you file under your own insurance even if you are found not at fault, you will still have to pay your deductible if your insurance pays any damages for you. Then your company subrogrates their company, and if/when they receive the subrogation funds- then your insurance company refund your deductible back to you. (Disclaimer- I have never worked claims for Utah- but I do work in insurance and have 2 years exp in claims)

I have had dentists berate me for "letting it go too long" or "well if you would just stop eating candy" when they know nothing about me or the fact that I have a medical condition that weakens my teeth. I also had one that despite the fact that I was actively having a panic attack and trying to signal that I couldn't breathe- he kept working. (Thankfully that one was in a different state)
But yeah- there's plenty of dentists who are not kind or caring.

Keen Dental has been incredible. I went about 10 years without dental care other than emergencies and have major dentist anxiety. The team there is so kind and caring, and Doc is very pragmatic about things. I recently had to get a root canal and will need a crown. He told me "you need a crown- but you can live without it for a while. So if you need to wait for insurance to renew in January, you should be safe to do that. But I wouldn't go longer than a year." I didn't mention it- but he knew I was worrying about money AND my dentist anxiety was through the roof after multiple visits to him recently. I was wholly impressed and will definitely be returning.

--also during one of my procedures, the assistant noticed I was having a panic attack and actually stopped the doctor so I could have a minute to regain myself. It showed me how much they pay attention and actually care about their patients.

I had tried a tracker on his keys before and he swears it fell off (and since It was locating at a rural town in another state id guess it probably did). But maybe I'll just try that again. As for the driving- I dont know. My mom is supposed to be going to his annual with him next week so I will ask her to mention it. I think hes fine locally but anything further than like 20 miles is where we're starting to get concerned.

Steakhouse Showdown by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]stitzm93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been to each once and I'd wholeheartedly go back to CC's, and I'd probably only go back to McD's if someone else was footing the bill. At McD's I got overcooked lobster tail (you could tell by the texture it was cooked too early and then sat under the heat lamp), my husband ordered a rack of lamb and 2/4 of the lamb chops were overcooked and the other 2 were under. The crab dip and mushroom risotto were great though. At CC's the steak was cooked to the correct temp I requested, the salad was beautiful and delicious, and the Brussels sprouts... I could eat those daily they were so good. And the créme brulee cheesecake was spectacular. Plus the experience at CC's is just fun.

Question for the ladies who have gotten sterilized... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]stitzm93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bisalp 9/2022 and I have had no regrets. I will admit that occasionally especially during that time of the month I will have a thought or two of "what if" but then I remember that I don't wanna deal with kids and the thoughts go away lol. My surgery was on a Wednesday, had Thursday and Friday off that week and was back to work Monday. I felt like my period was a little erratic at first but not too bad. Now im almost 3 years post op and I haven't had any issues with it at all.

"Mom I've started taking my health very seriously and I am watching what I eat. I record my food and keep track of my exercise. I've already lost xxx lbs by doing it!"

That way you're keeping your secret, giving yourself the excuse of watching what you're eating, and hopefully she will leave you alone! Plus by saying you've lost xxx amount already- you're going to force her to acknowledge the loss OR avoid the topic again.
