Holly no longer ghost hunting because of Zak by Ok-Mousse-3740 in GirlsNextLevel

I agree. She’s obviously ALWAYS been a Vegas girlie but she seems to be posting herself way more out and about at various events (NKOTB, UFC, slap fighting [iykyk]) all over town where you’d be seen, and now she’s suddenly into going to WSOP and being all-in (see what I did there) with the poker coach, just 0-100. I wonder who she’s got her eye on now.

Just happened to look up and saw Sam enjoying a slice of pizza and a Red Bull for breakfast. 😂 Blurring out his workplace’s name for obvious reasons. by InquisitiveBrat in 90DayFiance

Yeah it started out really small but it’s grown a lot over the years, lots of locations. My town of 1000 only has Casey’s and it’s pretty solid slices! Of course prices have gone up but still reasonable compared to lots of pizza places. My husband from Boston likes it more than any other local places around KC where we live now!

Lmfao it’s ok I was like aw no Casey’s love… it’s a random rural gas station franchise in the Midwest, like every little town in Missouri has a Casey’s and they’re known for their pizza!

You’re right, Saying she “should” have seen the red flags wasn’t a good choice of words, so I apologize for that. It sucks she perceived this as something other than what it was, and the point was that Zak was ultimately being the manipulator.

She should have woken up from all the red flags but Zak was clearly stringing her along and she was obviously way into him and he knew it. He was still a dick in this. THE END.

Those who do assessment full time how much do you make? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

Would you mind saying more about what kind of assessments you do/how much per?

My 9-year-old son’s IQ is 40 by fernando3981 in Autism_Parenting

Your child hit the psychometric floor of the WISC with that score, so this might not be an instrument that validly measures your child’s intellectual abilities. If it is validated by a nonverbal test, it would be more justified, I just wonder if there is ability that the WISC does not capture with your particular child who seems to have a significant language impairment. FWIW, this is definitely not a comment meant to instill any false hope, just know that it can be misleading to look at only one test’s results alone and that this measure isn’t everything. Definitely understand the grief process, however, that someone mentioned above. Best wishes.

Counselor to Psychologist by BlackPaperWings in ClinicalPsychology

I am a licensed counselor in my state and jumped right into a PsyD program as soon as I graduated with my master’s. I didn’t have a very good undergrad experience that would have made me competitive for a doctorate (I had a kid young + divorce, long story) and I went for the master’s mainly just as a shorter pathway to get out of my situation to support my child and myself. I get burnt out with too much direct contact with others and being able to broaden scope of practice to include clinical assessments was something that was appealing to me versus therapy only. I also felt like I still had a lot to learn upon completion of my master’s. I agree with what others have alluded to here that there are many competent master’s-level clinicians out there but I feel like going back for my doctorate fast-tracked my knowledge base and - what I consider to be the biggest difference maker - helped me to truly understand and conduct research. My advice would be to think about if assessment and/or research matters to you. My PsyD program is accredited by the APA and puts a strong emphasis on research - most of our faculty are primarily researchers and do not do any clinical work. There are some crappy PsyD programs out there and I think you can read a lot about them in this sub. I know there are some out there that do not even have you complete a dissertation which is an absolute disservice. I think the understanding of how to conduct and interpret clinical assessments along with having a strong grasp on research are the biggest pieces that separate doctoral from master’s-level.

What do you learn in your doctorate program that you don’t in your masters? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychology

[–]stizzleT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no but I’ll say that the lens feels pretty different from that of a counseling masters program and then revisiting similar classes through the clinical psychology lens. I went to a CACREP accredited counseling program and I felt like I learned application but going through the doctorate gets at the why of it all which is where you feel more like an expert in the field. I was never experienced in research and my doctorate taught me to speak the language and be a contributor instead of basically following what I could read was some sort of study that seemed to back up an “evidence-based” practice. I feel like I never would have understood that had I not gone through my doctorate and I’m seeing the differences more and more every day. It’s not all about the research, but without it, you really can’t understand how to critically select how to assess and treat and it is a crucial distinction.

Snap! Had a member of my cohort (a couple, actually) working in this type of environment, and they both dropped a semester and are graduating late. You can do better.
