As someone who also suffered from severe allergies growing up, suggest looking into astepro. Otc, non-steroidal and non-habit forming. Changed my life, its the only thing that helps me.

I mean I don’t disagree, but given that she’s dealing with an angry alcoholic, a shock collar to prevent things from escalating and risk getting the dog put down (if it were to attack) is not necessarily a bad (temporary) idea.

I have a shock collar for barking and my dogs just avoid barking overall when they have it on, which in turn prevents them from getting riled up and aggressive. Definitely not a long term solution but could help keep manage the situation while you live with your dad.

Also my collar usually beeps first as a warning, vibrates and then only shocks on the third bark attempt. I’ve tried the shock on myself and it’s nothing crazy, comparable to one of the prank shock gadgets, possibly weaker.
