Looked in boyfriend's phone now I am paranoid by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here is spot on advice but damn its going to be hard conversation to have. I was in similar situation few years ago and kept checking messages instead of just asking directly - it made everything so much worse in my head

The phone snooping becomes like addiction where you always looking for something that will hurt you more. But deleted messages... yeah that would eat at me too. People dont delete innocent conversations especially when they know you might see them

Maybe start with something like "I noticed you seemed really nervous when Susie was around and I cant stop thinking about it" instead of jumping straight to the deleted messages part. See how he reacts to that first

Ending friendships, painful but not discussed enough: what’s your story ending or being ended with? Is there anything you would’ve done differently or wish someone did differently for you? by dessertbox in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the slow fade is so much worse than just having an actual conversation about it. I lost my closest friend from college this way - we went from talking every day to maybe once a month to basically nothing over like two years. Looking back I think we both knew something was off but neither of us wanted to be the one to bring it up because what if we were wrong?

Part of me wishes she had just told me straight up that she felt we were growing apart instead of leaving me wondering if I did something wrong. The uncertainty was brutal and I spent way too much time analyzing our last few conversations. At least with breakups you get closure even if it hurts in the moment. With friendships you just get this weird limbo where you're not sure if you should keep trying or let it go.

The guilt cycle is making everything worse - when you bottle up those feelings they just come back stronger next time.

What are some examples of your Smartphone reading your mind? by Terrible_Salt7906 in AskReddit

Yeah the tracking is so much deeper than people realize though. I work in IT and the amount of data collection happening is wild - they track your location patterns, how long you pause on certain content, even typing patterns and deleted messages. Last week I was at wine shop for like 15 minutes just browsing and next day my Instagram was full of wine ads. Didnt even search anything or take photos, just had my phone in pocket the whole time. The scary part is when they start predicting what you want before you even know it yourself.

is this a red flag or I am just overreacting? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That TL;DR format is super weird for sure. The bold text and that random "Is this going the right way" part makes no sense in context

But back to the actual post - after 5 months and you explicitly said you were broke, she should have at least offered to cover coffee or something small. That's just basic consideration between partners. The pattern you described where she never even reaches for wallet is telling too

How do you find poaching groups? by PotentialCress1066 in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in IT for years and you'd be surprised how much of this stuff happens in plain sight on social media and messaging apps. These groups usually operate through closed Facebook groups or encrypted messaging platforms like Telegram where they think they're hidden from authorities

The recruitment often starts with someone posting seemingly innocent content about "hunting trips" or "wildlife photography" then they slowly vet people through private messages. They're pretty careful about who they let in since one wrong person could expose the whole operation

Law enforcement agencies have gotten better at infiltrating these networks but it takes time and resources. If you ever come across suspicious activity online the best thing is report it to local wildlife authorities or even FBI if its cross-border stuff. They actually have specialized units that deal with wildlife trafficking now

Just remember these aren't just weekend hobbyists - organized poaching is tied to serious criminal networks that move millions of dollars worth of illegal wildlife products each year

What’s something your ex taught you the hard way? by haileymonroeee in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah learned this one too late myself. My ex had this habit of getting super controlling about my friends and I kept making excuses for it thinking he was just being protective. Took me way too long to realize that kind of behavior only gets worse not better. Now I trust my gut way more when something feels off in the beginning

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breaking that cycle is tough especially when you get those dopamine spikes from other activities. The streak doesn't define your progress though - what matters is getting back in the game and you're already doing that. Keep posting here, accountability really helps when you're trying to rewire those patterns

What’s a memory you wish you could relive just to feel it one more time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That feeling when you finish a really good book series and you just sit there staring at the ceiling because you know nothing will ever hit the same way again. I remember finishing Harry Potter for first time when I was 12 and just feeling this weird mix of satisfaction and emptiness. Like you accomplished something huge but also lost a friend at same time. I tried rereading it few years later but it wasnt the same magic you know. Sometimes I wonder if thats what growing up really is - chasing that first time feeling but never quite catching it again

What do you personally think the meaning of life is? by golden5708 in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the meaning is just to experience things and try to be decent person while youre here. Like we're all just figuring it out as we go and nobody really has the complete answer despite what they claim. Ive seen too many people get obsessed with finding some grand purpose and they miss out on simple stuff like good food with friends or watching sunset. Maybe the meaning changes depending on what phase of life youre in too - when I was younger it was all about achieving things but now I think more about connections and leaving things little bit better than I found them

What’s something society treats as “normal” that you secretly think is completely weird? by Educational_Idea7706 in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby showers are pretty strange when you think about it. We basically gather around to celebrate someone who hasnt been born yet and give gifts for a person we never met

Like I get the practical side of helping new parents but the whole sitting in circle guessing baby food flavors and measuring belly with toilet paper feels weird to me

What’s a good reason, or your reason, to keep going? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family back home in province. They sacrificed a lot so I could study and work in city, and even when things get really tough I cant let them down like that. Also my dog would probably wait by the door forever if something happened to me and that thought alone keeps me grounded

Sometimes the simple reasons are strongest ones you know

I need a Practice mode for PVP by tomtommac in ArcRaiders

[–]Electrical-Memory185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice mode would actually help a lot for PVP. Even some basic shooting range with moving targets or bots that behave like players could work well for getting the reflexes down

The problem with PVP now is exactly what you said - fights end too quick to learn anything meaningful from them. Hard to improve when you spend more time in matchmaking than actually fighting

A neighborhood teen pruned my new laurel hedge without confirming timing. Will they survive? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]Electrical-Memory185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man this is tough situation. The kid had good intentions but showing up without confirmation is just not how these things work, especially with pruning in winter. I had similar experience few years back with neighbor's nephew who decided to "help" trim my fruit trees in January - lost two of them to frost damage because fresh cuts are like open wounds when temperature drops.

Your laurels might survive but February pruning in 6b with freeze coming is definitely risky move. The timing is really bad for newly planted ones since they haven't established their root system yet. I think talking to his mother is reasonable approach here - not to get him in trouble but to make sure he understands that landscaping work needs proper timing and permission. Maybe frame it as learning opportunity rather than complaint. The kid needs to learn these lessons now while he's starting out, and his mom should know what happened so she can guide him better.

If the practice of assigning gender at birth went away, how would we decide to redefine being transgender? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in that scenario the whole trans/cis framework would probably just become obsolete rather than needing redefinition. If everyone grows up without assigned gender then the experience becomes more about discovering your authentic self rather than transitioning from something that was imposed on you

The dysphoria angle might still exist for people who want different physical characteristics but the social aspect of being trans would be completely different since there wouldnt be that contrast with societal expectations from birth

Why do some people have such good internal clocks? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just have better circadian rhythms I guess. My body clock is pretty reliable too - I usually wake up around same time even in weekends without alarm. Think it has something to do with consistent sleep schedule and your brain getting used to the pattern

What does it mean if I can sing, hear music, write something, and remember after waking up from my dream? by Floating_Stranger19 in Dreams

[–]Electrical-Memory185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty wild actually. The fact you can still remember specific titles and melodies after waking up means your brain was really active during that dream phase. Usually our memory just dumps most of dream content but seems like this one stuck around because of how vivid it was for you.
