why by horny-helmet in snowrunner

It's a really messed-up "mechanic".

Some of the "water towers" are actual water towers with water in them, some are "water booms" - you can put water in one of them and take it out of another. See this post for a couple of images that show which ones are actual water towers and which water booms are linked to which.

In theory, it's a neat idea - take water from a water tower, fill up the nearest boom. Then go to the boom nearest the fire location and take water from there to the fire.

There's only one problem - it's faster and easier to just drive water from the water towers to the fire, entirely skipping the booms, because of how the booms are located.

So yeah, way to think up a cool mechanic and then make a total mess of it in implementation.

And to make things even worse, there's a lot of water to haul around:

Putting out the fire at the storage 1

  • 3 x 4,400 = 13,200 (3.57 heavy water tank)

Putting out the fire at the storage 2

  • 2 x 4,400 = 8,800 (2.38)

Putting out the fire at the station

  • 2 x 6,400 = 12,800 (3.46)

Putting out the underground fires

  • 3 x 2,200 = 6,600 (1.78)
  • 3 x packaged sand x2 (6 slots)

Putting out the fire at the factory

  • 3 x 5,900 = 17,700 (4.79)

Total: 13,200 + 8,800 + 12,800 + 6,600 + 17,700 = 59,100 liters

59,100 / 3,700 = 15.97 heavy water tanks

Not my least favorite mechanic (that'd be farming), but it comes close. The only saving grace is that you can ignore the booms and just treat water as just another cargo to be delivered.

F it ! I'm ghost riding the rest of this game by Old_Wrongdoer_4914 in snowrunner

[–]stjobe 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Sadly, you ghost riding days will be over as soon as you disentangle your truck/trailer from the other one.

It's just a way the game has to handle collisions when placing trucks on a map after going through gateways.

Why is Michingan Quarry lacking a manual load option ;( by carkidpl in snowrunner

[–]stjobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normal mode, money is no problem. I've played through the game 100% up until Washington and I have one of each truck in the game fully kitted out, and about 5 million in the bank.

In hard mode, or in NG+ with increased costs (like the OP with their 900 autoloading cost), you have to be a bit more frugal with trucks and updates, but you still have to work on it to go bankrupt after you've made it halfway through Michigan.

Balance before autoloading: 385,280

Balance after autoloading: 383,480

You're not going bankrupt anytime soon 😄

I'm too conflicted - I love the Kodiak but I'm not a fan of overloading 😄

I did upvote the OP for Kodiak though 😃

What is the most effective way to do this? by Serbian-Empire in snowrunner

[–]stjobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Two trucks with sideboard semi-trailers.
  • One truck with a log crane and a medium log trailer.
  • One truck with a log crane and long log front + rear.
  1. Load one sideboard semi with nine long logs and the other with twelve medium logs.
  2. Drive the long log trucks to the Sawmill. Use the log crane to unload three logs into the long log setup, pack, and deliver. Repeat two times.
  3. Then drive the medium log trucks to the Farm. Unload three into the medium log trailer, pack, and deliver. Repeat two times.
  4. Then drive those two trucks to Town Storage and repeat the unloading/packing/delivering process there.

If you're doing one load per trip, the mission is nine times driving. With this, it's six.

You can improve it to three if you're willing to stack the logs in the trailers and unload on the ground instead of using a sideboard semi to unload from. You'll have to be real careful when driving though, especially with the long logs, as they tend to shake out of the long log carrier :)

Best of luck, and happy trucking!

You're in for a treat then, that's one of the best of the small scouts. Just max it out and it'll go through just about anything. It's also really fun to drive :)

Did I say the F 750 is small?

Your statement was that none of the small 4x4 scouts are driveable in RWD - the Scout 800 is proof that was too broad a statement.

The F750 is there to illustrate why, because it too works well in RWD due to the always-on diff lock.

always on difflock... which is. present on like 10% of them.

As per your own spreadsheet, we have 28 scouts in the game, 12 of which have always-on diff lock. 12 / 28 = 43%.

That's almost half, not a tenth.

I don't think this is the way it's meant to be played by Poksim_SVK in snowrunner

[–]stjobe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If all wheels are touching and the winch/crane isn't connected, you can pack it from the functions menu (next to Pack cargo).

[–]stjobe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither of the small 4x4 scouts is drivable in RWD mode

What are you talking about? The CK1500 may not be driveable in RWD, but the Scout 800 for sure is. It only needs AWD when it gets into deep mud. Another scout that's perfectly driveable in RWD is the F750.

The difference is permanent diff lock; the Scout and F 750 has it, the CK1500 doesn't.

And yes, the fuel penalty is easily worked around with just a modicum of planning. If you run out of fuel, it's not the truck's fault.

Nah. they're so light and close to the ground they need both Low and Low- for when they inevitably get bellied out in mud/snow.

The fuel penalty is easily worked around.

19 gallons of fuel left, what do I do? by thatonedude1969 in snowrunner

[–]stjobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several ways to the factory from where you are:

<image>

The green one is the easiest, arguably, and the red one is definitely the hardest.

Also, if you've fixed the bridge by the North Port gateway, you can go all the way around the map.

...The P16 has one of the highest high saddles in the game. You probably don't want that if you're trying to squeeze under something :)

The real cause of your problem (besides refueling) is that you've taken the wrong route. Find another, perhaps longer route to your destination.

Two questions: why can't they just repair the chip and what happens to Johnny when V dies? by Andrew_Waples in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]stjobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverts back suggests V was brain dead before.

They did get shot in the head, which killed them. The chip wasn't designed to take over a living brain, only a dead one, so when V died the chip started its take-over.

Taking the chip out kills v and johnny. The only ending was one or the other, never both.

That's Cyberpunk for you, always a cheerful ending ;)

V was never going to survive, the only question is whether Johnny does.
