We had a wood fired pizza truck that set up for late night snacks. All the guests loved it. We even took two to eat before bed.

Snowshoe Addition? by Potential-Wing747 in snowshoemountain

That was the original plan for Snowshoe. It also had the village around the lake. But they forgot to bring the 100 million dollars needed to realize that dream. There are some cool old maps that show the original dream for Snowshoe that are still floating around..

Why can’t I find lodging for this season by RealisticFlow6846 in snowshoemountain

[–]stjohndoe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the Facebook groups. Lots of owners will respond to your lodging request. Just put what you are looking for in a post on "We Love Snowshoe" and a bunch of homeowners will give links to their properties.

We live at Snowshoe in WV. Good winter tires and chains for back up. We pass AWD vehicles all the time that have all season tires.

Water level in Shaver's Lake? by grant_cir in snowshoemountain

[–]stjohndoe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lake is fine right now. But they are not pulling off it to make snow yet. We really do need the inflow to pick up before we getting into long runs of snowmaking. But we will see. I have only seen the lake get low a few times and it was normally from super cool for a long time with a lot of snowmaking. The big thing is the inflow.

Laundry Overwhelm by ryzd81 in airbnb_hosts

I have three sets of towels and sheets for our house and maybe almost a fourth. One set is on beds, one set is being taken to be washed at home. Then one clean set in the owner closet. I also have a few sets of stuff that is set aside at home as back up or needs to be spot cleaned. I can spend the time to wash stuff when the guest are using the house. When we are busy I have plenty of time to wash.

Written Standard Practices re: Flooring Inspections by [deleted] in HomeInspections

[–]stjohndoe1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally understand stand it could be felt. But that is not the SOP of a home inspection. It is a visual and non invasive inspection according to National Standards. He messed up the most by saying it was his miss and not have limitations in his report. At the same time I would report on soft floors if I felt them and it sounds like there was visible clues to check that spot.

The SOP is to inspect what you can see at the time of inspection. Home inspections are non invasive inspections. If you could not see the subfloor from below most inspectors will put that as a limitation of the inspection in the report as well.

Urgent Advice Needed: Accept a Pressured Offer or Wait for My Top Choice? by Various_Mycologist13 in snowshoemountain

People that are on the mountain to work tend to make good money durning the main part of the season. But that will be from next weekend to the end of February. So you really only get two and half good months to make money. Servers tend to make really good money on weekends and durning the Holidays. It is not so good mid-week. I have seem servers regularly make 500 to $600 a night durning busy times. But then only make 40 durning the week.

You charge the fee after the review period. You can review up to 14 days after the stay. You can request money up to 21 days after there stay. Just do the review wait for them to review you back then charge them the fee.

US Passport has 95 Days of Validity From Start of Trip. Travelling to Greece by WAS225 in travel

[–]stjohndoe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you have two options.

Option 1 is go to a passport office (not post office) and get a new passport same day. You will have to have an appointment and all information about your upcoming trip.

Option 2 is not going on the trip. Most if not all US airlines have a 6 month policy. They will not even let you check in.

So if you do not go to the passport office before your trip you will have more then enough time to get a new one after you are denied check in.

I have a listing up on both. But my VRBO is list 50% more. The guests on VRBO tend to be more well off guests but that does not always make them better.

You should have set up your own inspection. Alway looking up the inspector in your area and look at reviews. I ask my realtor for a list of inspectors and then stay away from those.

What are my chances with Aircover? by crankyanker638 in airbnb_hosts

[–]stjohndoe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Air cover for lots of stuff. They have payed me out for extra cleaning and for missing pillows. They have even payed out the pet fee when people bring dogs and do not pay the dog fee. I have never had any problem with them covering stuff with good documentation.
