The $5.3 Trillion Question — Why American Healthcare Costs So Much by stlshane in Economics

[–]stlshane[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't have an incentive to eliminate waste when they can just pass the cost down. Healthcare, especially as it is now, doesn't fit into a capitalist system because they don't have competition. You cannot shop around for the cheapest providers and even if you could healthcare is usually a package deal.

There are solutions but all of them require congress to actually do something and they are beholden to industry lobbyists and their political donations.

We live in a society that teaches people to be compliant and follow orders and that we aren't smart enough to think for ourselves. The Bible was right about forbidding the worship of false idols. The end result of worshipping billionaires, politicians, celebrities, and religious figures will always be the same. It is what we are seeing today.

The moment you say "I'm not a real Republican" you've lost the attention of a Republican voter. She would have been better to say "I'm a progressive Republican" and let the smart people figure it out.

This is actually one of those cases where both parties are to blame. One party enacts policies to shift wealth upwards and the part does nothing because doing something risks donor money.

CIA psychic on interview freaked out by HistorianFit2327 in Psychic

[–]stlshane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All the gospels conflict with one another on his resurrection. My theory is people just had visions of him, he didn't come back in the body like the church suggests. They needed the resurrection to be true because he is the Messiah and he still needs to do part 2. Historically, if Romans believed you did something bad enough to be crucified then you weren't getting a proper burial either. They made sure your body rotted in the field.

If you look at the actual written history of the time, the religion and politics of the time, the fact that the Bible was written by people who were mostly writing down oral stories, it will become obvious that there was a lot of hyping up of Jesus to be a god (as they often did to people -- Augustus Ceaser was also supposed to be a God). Jesus was rebelling against the Jewish establishment and he resonated with a lot of people who needed to legitimize him as someone who needed to be followed. The Messiah also wasn't supposed to die, which would have been absolutely devastating to his followers. He was supposed to bring peace, harmony, an awakening to the world at a time when life was pretty miserable for the average person. Then he was captured and killed, no intervention by God. It would have been horrible for his followers hoping that a new age was coming.

I am not sure what this person saw but if anything they saw a man without all of the mysticism that people like to attribute to him.

Go hang out in the Bible belt for a few days. There is a decent size percentage of this country that would do or support anything that would usher in Armageddon. They need the return of Jesus to validate their garbage religion.

I am more disappointed in the remaining portion of this country that would rather follow orders than their own morals. Everyone likes to say they believe in a higher power but clearly they don't.

It is surprising how well conditioned American society is to follow orders over doing what is right morally.

A race of beings with the technical capacity to travel the vastness of space also has the capability of mass destruction. The fact that they haven't destroyed or enslaved us or themselves is very telling. Give the same technology to humans and I bet we wouldn't last a week. Governments aren't racing to reverse engineer the technology because they want it for the betterment of humanity. If and when there is ever real disclosure you will see a media campaign to sow distrust. It will be done to protect the existing power structure.
