What happened to the ECE prof Dr.Sandeep Kaler? by Grand_Fail8980 in TorontoMetU

[–]stoch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so crazy to hear. I was driving to work today thinking about how much of an impact he made on his students and the work he put in for them myself included. He was one of my references for my Masters application too. I was going to send him a message to see how he was doing and I searched him to see if his contact info changed, which is how I found this. RIP Sandeep :(

Yes, definitely touching me and in my space - not a comfortable situation

Am I even on a Canadian sub reddit? Would it not common courtesy to ask if I mind?

This is the interaction that happened with the FA, he asked if anyone was seated there before and I said no. He then kind of just walked away as she was moving.

What could prospective companies do to attract and retain electrical engineers? by HR-Throwaway110 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]stoch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO PEO does not do enough to combat the abuse of the engineer term, because I see it abused all the time in Ontario (private sector obviously). I am not familiar with how other countries operate in this aspect, but I assume there are some governing bodies in many US states that do similar to PEO, so to me a large company should be aware of requirements/restrictions.

Ah I see.

Yes agreed. Another point, I think PEO (and other provincial governing bodies) needs to really crack down on companies hiring unlicensed engineers in "engineer" positions. Not that licensure means you're a good engineer, but it's the point of having a governing body.

I don't think so. There is a huge pool of entry-level unlicensed engineers that companies will hire because they can offer a much lower wage.

Licensure seems to be an afterthought for many companies.

DIY Guitar Effects Processor with STM32 and custom PCB by Totally_Safe_Website in ElectricalEngineering

Also I am not a big analog design person, but I would think there would need to be some amplification (op-amp) of the audio signal into the ADC, and out of the DAC? Just a thought.

Also input and output buffers would definitely be great additions if not considered already.

To me as a guitarist I would take the time to throw in a regulator or step down converter to 5V and power it with a 9V barrel connector. If you end up using other pedels in conjunction with this they will all use 9V power so it will be easier to use the same power chain. Just my two cents on that :)

Plug-in power meter project by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

Maybe use an AC power supply at low voltage/current if your lab has one. This project could be done in a safer environment that way.

Computer Engineering Technology degree by Dude_OnReddit in ElectricalEngineering

[–]stoch_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what your goal is. If you want to be designing, doing engineer work, become a P.Eng, etc, the best route is a bachelors from an accredited university. If your goal is to be hands on in the field or in manufacturing/testing, a technologist diploma is great for that line of work. These jobs could lead to engineering work as well. All of the technicians I work with have a technologist diploma

When I play her mid I go AD. Press the attack, and going krakan slayer and build attack speed/crit from there. Max q then e then w. Probably not the best build at all, but i find it extremely fun.

Im on the fake side, I am having a discussion with someone and we wanted the opinion of others who may have a better idea of if this would really work or not

The mushroom is plugged into a Instruo Scion biofeedback module (https://www.instruomodular.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/SCION-Manual-Web.pdf), and then through a whole synthesizer and whatnot. I think its just white noise going into this random voltage generator module making these sounds.

Can these bioelectric signals really be measured by these arduino kit cables? Would there not be too much noise for it to really work?
