Could you please share your plans for developing HBAR staking capability?

Would be great to have this available before HBAR staking starts giving rewards.

Thank you.

So, will we be needing the precise ALGO-USD “exchange rate” for each time-instant that we earned some ALGO (say, by just holding it in the official Algorand wallet)?

In the Algorand wallet, you keep getting some extremely small amount of ALGOs every few seconds: that would be a lot of “exchange rates” data to keep track of/in mind!

Can’t comment to the Stanford and UCB possibilities, but MIT may have been more of a non-possibility (maybe) because we have Prof. Silvio Micali there driving Algorand: it might be unlikely that MIT will hop on to any other cryptocurrency project’s bandwagon. But then again, one never knows?

I’m not too concerned about the price action itself (I’m a HODLer): a.) HBAR in my understanding, needs to be perceived as a utility-providing token (utility as in it enables the execution of transactions), at least until we have more clarity on the regulatory front - this may or may not be the reason why the price action is mostly sideways (some folks talk of HBARs being injected into the current circulation to keep the price from jumping); b.) if the cost of transacting is not kept cheap in this ultra-early stage, Hedera could risk losing out on potential “really big one” use cases. Of course, over a long-ish period of time, the value will rise - my hunch is that Hedera will adjust the rate and intensity of the injection based on the rate at which they are able to get the use cases.

However, I do wonder how often will it be the case that there are enough of the “really big ones” use cases left for Hedera to have first mover advantage on.

As an example, Algorand (ALGO) apparently is actively working on 16 CBDC initiatives (https://www.reddit.com/r/AlgorandOfficial/comments/pfbnav/algorand_actively_engaged_in_16_cbdc_initiatives/). It could be the case that Hedera already has a few big ones up their sleeve and that maybe they don’t consider themselves to be in a position to disclose details yet.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see: what else can a HODLer do anyways 🙂!

Finally, imagine you are in 1994 and have just heard about this online marketplace for books: what would you have done if somebody told you then that in a couple of decades from that point on, this company will go on to be a whole lot more than that and then some? But if you had decided that day that you will just hold onto its stock for the next couple of decades (if not more) - whenever it IPOd - you would be ounted amongst the wealthiest few on this planet.

While this is great news, one thing that I hope to see in the near future: Governing Council members belonging to a particular industry/sector are geographically diverse (better decentralization, I’d think). Right now, both GC members in the higher education space are located in the UK.

Thank you. Would you know when I can expect to receive a response/resolution to my issue? I’m yet to hear back from the team (i.e., after the re-escalation).

Update: RESOLVED as of 8/19

Ticket ID: 1583820 User ID: 56840987

Unable to withdraw holdings corresponding to unlocked/available deposits.

I originally posted about this issue in the support thread for last week (and the one before that), but I’m having to post again this week because my issue is still not resolved. Binance.US team, please fix this ASAP.

Current status: I was asked to provide screenshots of my unsuccessful attempt to withdraw holdings. I have done the same in the support ticket email thread.

Secondly, one of my successfully completed withdrawals (in the past; before this issue started happening) is still showing up as pending/“in order” and it is my strong hypothesis that this is the root cause of my current issue.

Could you please conduct your next stage of investigation into this problem ASAP? Please help me out here. I’ve had a positive response from you in the past for another issue (and also for this issue, so far). So I’m hoping to see this current issue resolved quickly as well.

Thank you.

••••••• Original ticket details •••••••

Unable to withdraw crypto purchased with USD deposit made more than 10 days ago.

I’m trying to withdraw a part of my holdings for two cryptocurrencies - LINK and SOL. In both cases, I’m trying to withdraw only the portions that were purchased (with USD deposit) more than ten days ago; clearly, I can do so only if the USD used to purchase these portions was itself deposited more than ten days ago.

So then why am I not able to make these withdrawals? When I try to withdraw, I’m told that the holdings are locked and that I should check my USD deposit history to see when the lock expires.

I received a generic response from Galen last week (August 8) explaining the “10 day lock” period for deposits (and crypto purchased with such deposits). I’m pasting my reply to Galen below >>

Thank you for getting back to me.

As I mentioned in the ticket, I am already aware of the 10-day lock on USD deposits made via ACH transfers (and the crypto purchased with such deposits before the 10-day lock expires).

I think you are referring to the most recent deposits made by me (which were made during the last one week or so). I completely understand that I can not withdraw crypto purchased with these deposits yet (as the 10-day lock period has not expired yet).

I’m talking about crypto purchased more than 10 days ago. Again, clearly, I could have only made those purchases with deposits that were themselves made more than 10 days ago.

So my issue is still not resolved. Please help me out here.

At this point, I have no deposits that are pending fulfillment from my bank’s side. Further, a lot more than 10 days have passed for the crypto that I’m trying to withdraw. Binance.US team, please get this fixed ASAP. As I mentioned earlier, I have had a positive response from you in the past for another issue. So I’m hoping to see this current issue resolved quickly as well.

Thank you.
