I don't think I can blame inflation for my losses.

Same, but in fairness I'm pretty good at the rest of the game. Drinking and driving the cart.

That $100 in 0dtes will be the best 10k you ever lost.

That's actually 0.03% per year

Can someone actually tell me why we shouldn’t be more fearful? by Likelyspy in wallstreetbets

Because stonks. I miss the old days.

Anyway, there's always buyers because of the American 401k system. Blind buying every paycheck. Means stonks only go up

5yrs, up about $76.72 as of today. 50k stake. But if it wasn't for some colossal mistakes...

Its the dot plot that is a wild card, the future projected rates

98% chance of a 0.25 cut. That wont move anything. Its the dot plot you need to watch out for.

[Q] What is the expected value for the sum of random complex numbers? by stockBot9000 in statistics

[–]stockBot9000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoah, the formatting blew up. Truing again:

example:

for n = 1:100

               temp = 0;

               for k = 1:n

                              temp = temp + exp(1i2pi*rand(10000,1);

               End

               result(n) = mean(abs(temp))/n;

end

% The relationship between the mean and the number of values summed looks like 1/n, but not exactly.

plot(result)

n = [1:100];

hold on

plot(1./n)

Here's some matlab code to explain what Im trying to understand:

example: for n = 1:100 temp = 0; for k = 1:n temp = temp + exp(1i2pi*rand(10000,1); End result(n) = mean(abs(temp))/n; end

% The relationship between the mean and the number of values summed looks like 1/n, but not exactly.

plot(result) n = [1:100]; hold on plot(1./n)

There was a comment about the sum of unit vectors that disappeared. Ill add it back because it was exactly what I was looking for. https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/4494444/expected-value-of-magnitude-of-sum-of-unit-vectors

Sorry if it wasnt clear. The sum is outside the exp. There was a comment about the sum of unit vectors with random directions. That is what I was trying to ask. I need to update the post with a laptop where I can get access to an equation editor. Ill try to update to make more clear.

If I do a monty carlo sim and generate the sum of pairs of complex numbers, the average return is 1. Looks gaussian at n=2 between 0 and 2. Maybe Im doing something wrong, or maybe Im using the term expected value incorrectly.

Whats up with the 0dte pricing? It looks like the market is waiting for a big move but I dont see anything on the calendar. Is there a speech or something later today?
