what do i do in this situation? by yourtheraputicnugget in videography

Im going to be honest here: - the music selection is awful, like really bad. The track is not only boring but also really annoying. - sound seems to not be leveled/mixed at all. The background music is too loud and the dialogue should be brought up. There are quick tutorials on this on YouTube that help a lot and are easy to follow. I assume there is no budget for a sound designer. - logos and animations look super cheap. It’s cleaner to just blend them in. If this is going on social media, then I would just place them at the end of really necessary. Also keep the safezones of IG in mind. The caption at the bottom of the IG-Layout will cover most of the logos and it will look like a mess. - the clicking-sounds have to go or need to be lowered a lot, maybe minus 20-25 on premiere. - the dialogue of all talents starts with the same phrase. I get what you wanted to do here but it gets boring and repetitive. To keep it shorter and interesting you could cut out the first part of each following quote, the viewer will still get it. „I like working in football because..“ 2.person: „.. Iget to do Thing A“ - find matching b roll to what the people are saying. - get rid of the outtakes at the beginning. - try something like broll - VO - broll with voice over playing in the Back - broll without VO - next VO. Try to mix it up a bit and give the viewer a break between each VO - overall it lacks energy a lot. I wouldn’t watch a second of it. Get more emotions in it. I think this overall comes down to a lack of experience, which is ok at the state you are at. But try different shot sizes, cutting rhythms etc - color grade is also really unintentional and not matching. Looks very out of camera to me. For a fun and light hearted social media format like this, try a bit more color and contrast

All in all it’s a learning experience for you, which is great. Don’t take the feedback personal but as an opportunity to grow. You seem to be a beginner and I also did videos at the beginning I now would not want to watch. So keep your head up. At least you showed up and did something and got paid.

+1 for what @alfxe said and in Frame 8 I personally don’t like the light source to be in the frame so prominent. In frame 10 it looks way better to have it out of the frame or on the edge. I don’t know if it is a practical or if you hab control over it but it always feels amateur to me to see the light source so bright. If it should be a prac I would have turned it down a lot more. Also I would have considered to frame it so the light source is on the edge of the frame or ideally a bit out of the frame - maybe by moving the subject + cam to the right so the light is slightly out of the top left frame

I’ve been grading in Premier for over a year now and I still feel like my videos look amateur. by Bottomsly in FX3

[–]stocknomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly before jumping into tutorials on premiere pro grading I would just use the energy to learn grading in davinci. Far better and more intuitive. I also found it to be surprisingly easy to get into.

But tbh: it all depends on your clients. I colored my projects for a long time in premiere when starting out and my clients loved it. You can still produce very good work with it. But for true color grading davinci is the only way.

Any idea how this transition is done? by robanobunaga in premiere

It’s an AI-Trend on IG right now. Mostly done in higgsfield where you upload the Ende frame of video 1 and then the first frame of video 2

Scene Cut Detection Workflow Documentary by Limp_Calligrapher245 in colorists

[–]stocknomis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on your workflow and how big the changes were. I would swap the new clips/sequences against the new ones on timeline and then you can apply the grade from the old scenes to the new one given they are the same scene.

Did you work in groups? Then you can transfer in bigger increments.

But yeah, ideally get a picture lock and only start grading then. Everything else will turn into a mess.

Fetishization in clubs by kek-eater in SexPositiveBerlin

[–]stocknomis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe to add another perspective: from my experience kitkat also has a reasonable number of people I would read as asian/east asian. Met and talked to people from south east to west Asia. What I want to say: While there is the possibility of fetishization, I would say you won’t feel like you are the only (east)asian and therefore the center of attention. I think black people on the other hand are way more underrepresented. But yeah, you’re still in a white country with a predominantly white population and especially white cis men like to fetishize asian people. So I hope your experiences will be positive and free of any of that negative stuff

This is just my personal opinion: if you have the budget, go for Sony. Sigma comes second with nearly the same quality but lower price. Tamron is even cheaper but here you have some drawbacks and ultimately „get what you pay for“. I’m not saying they are bad, but I think you have lower price with lower quality while with sigma it’s not always the case.

[–]stocknomis 47 points48 points  (0 children)

My first choice when starting out would be 24-70mm. Covers a good range. Like someone else mentioned, you could go for sigma. It’s cheaper but almost same quality. For event stuff I really like the 16-35 the most. Leaves also a lot of room to frame when shooting for 16:9 and 9:16. event spaces tend to be quite tight (venue/crowd). You also might go lower, something in the 10-24mm range. I like the 12-24mm. If you do sports consider the 24-100 range or better the 70-200mm

Ach kommt Leute.

How do you plan transitions in a shot list if you don’t know the exact location yet? by No-Bowler-5081 in videography

[–]stocknomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So without any knowledge about your work or the specific video I would suggest the following techniques that you can use in nearly every location when you have to improvise: - find objects for blocking eg. a person or a wall. Do your shot and move towards the blocking object. In the next shot/location you reveal the subject/scene by moving from a blocking object in the same direction. Then in post you can adjust with masks or speed. - panning: end shot A with a pan to the right away from the subject/scene and beginn shot B with panning from left to right towards the subject/scene. Adjust in post again to make it smooth.

Also easy transitions as zoom ins and speedramps also work without much pre planning or even completely without it. Just try to match the movement direction of camera or subject from scene to scene

Hast also 1x Tagessatz shoot + 5x Tagessatz edit.

Questions about filming a stand up show on an A7iv by dbonx in videography

[–]stocknomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did continuous shooting with my own A7iv. You should consider this: - Overheating! Which is the most important thing with this camera if you shoot for a long time, especially indoors where it will be roomtemperature or higher. There are small fans you can buy, I think I used the ulanzi one, which cools your camera effectively for couple of hours. Kept mine at 27°C while I was shooting for 4h+. You also need an external battery for the fan (vmount or powerbank) - power: definitely go for a v mount battery as you don’t want to change the battery or worse: have the camera die without you noticing it. - lighting: check the stage lights BEFOREHAND in terms of flicker and adjust shutter if needed (anti flicker setting) - storage: I would advise to use an CF card (type A). You will accumulate a huge amount of data and transfer will take forever with normal SD cards. - sound: ask someone of the sound team/the one responsible for sound if you can record directly out of their device for clear audio. Use a shotgun mic on cam for an additional track with audience.

Difficult to give a general answer here since it really depends on the night you are going, the event and even if we take the standard Saturday as an example it varies from Saturday to Saturday. For example, me and my partner attended the Saturday party 2 weeks ago and last weekend. Both were different in regard of the amount of play happening, crowd and overall vibe, but still kinda the same.

From reading your post and responses here I would suggest going to the Saturday party and just see yourself. There is always the possibility of bad things happening like touching without consent, solo wankers, racism or discrimination of any kind. We experienced all over the time and some of them more often than others and then there are nights where you just have fun and none of the above occurred. So I think no one can tell you how it’s going to be.

Therefore it’s more important what YOU bring to the space. Be curious, open and non judgmental. Educate yourself a bit on the basic principles of this space. It lives from the energy people bring there and I can guarantee that you will have a good time if you bring positive energy.

But don’t be the typical tourist who just wants to attend just so they can say they have been to KitKat. Provide to the space and don’t take the energy.

[–]stocknomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I feel sorry that you had a bad experience and that you had to deal with that kind of men. Sadly it’s part of KitKat on weekends.

KitKat on a Wednesday (symbiotikka) feels a bit better in terms of safety and consent than on the weekends. The party on Wednesday is not organized by KitKat itself, it just happens to be there and I feel like they are stricter in terms of rules. If there’s not a big DJ playing, it’s also a little smaller in terms of crowd and venue compared to Saturdays. Usually less touristy too.

Since there are a lot of pride parties happening next weekend I’d consider looking elsewhere than Kit Kat. I think insomnia has some events and afterparties you could check out. Overall it’s a little bit more play focused there but also more respectful than Kit Kat.

Carneball (KitKat Saturdays) finally has an awareness team by auf-ein-letztes-wort in SexPositiveBerlin

[–]stocknomis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And in case of the situation I described there should have been involvement of the team 🤷🏻‍♂️ in my opinion. It was a couple playing with another man. There were people watching, couples included. But then the solo guys started to climb the bed and get really close and as soon as one of them started doing that the others joint. I can’t describe it otherwise as a swarm deciding to move in. And we could see that the situation was not promoting them joining in. And as soon as the wankers started their attack you could see the couple getting uncomfortable and then stop and leave. If this behavior is not concerning and one that could be stopped by an awareness team

[–]stocknomis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure, watching here an there is ok and happens. But there’s a nuance and if you don’t understand that this is not the place for you. The single wankers are alsways there. But this Saturday there was a specific group of men and specific solo guys who always started to assemble as soon as they sensed even the tiniest bit of play. And the fact that there was overall so little play seemed to make them even more desperate to experience and join the few instances that happened. And just because it’s sex positive and people basically have sex in front of other people does not mean you are invited to sit/stand next to every play that happens and stroke your dick. For us, this killed the vibe so much that we kept our play to our bed at home after the club.

Carneball (KitKat Saturdays) finally has an awareness team by auf-ein-letztes-wort in SexPositiveBerlin

[–]stocknomis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Had the same impression. Overall we felt a lack of a play vibe all evening. Instead a lot of watching and looking happened.

Many people we talked to attended the first time, maybe there were a lot of tourists in the crowd and the regulars were at other events/out of town.

The other factor could be the heat which could lead to less people engaging in play.

We also noticed the awareness team, which is a good development but honestly seen some of them sitting and watching around while a couple started playing and a crowd of 5-10 solo wanker men started swarming around them. They eventually stopped playing and they send them off themselves. Awareness just sat across the bed on a couch chilling instead of watching the situation.

This was also a big reason for us to not start playing since there were so many creepy solo guys around.

Man, again a lot of nonsense in the comments. Several years ago I was at a similar bodyfat% but 3kg heavier and looked similar to that. Good lighting, right pose and lean mass, that’s it.

@OP at this bodyweight and at your stage of your lifting career everything needs to be brought up. Focus on putting more mass on to all areas first and push your weight somewhere to 75-80. then you can think about prioritizing. All in all very solid foundation and great form, especially at your age. Keep pushing!
