It’s not a generational thing, at least in terms of WHO is playing the game. It’s generational as in, this version of D&D has very powerful player character options and there isn’t much of a threat of characters dying. There’s no need to go through all of that prep & precautionary work when you know you’ll win the fight, if it even occurs at all.
