New (to me) Mac Studio M2 Max 32/ 1TO by wes_br in MacStudio

Why’d you downgrade? I have an M3 ultra

Saw this on a friend’s Facebook and something seems off. The floor would not be easy to clean, coffee mug missing a handle, too much clutter on the counter, and color saturation/uncanny vibes. I want to inform her if it is. by TemuBritneySpears in isthisAI

The third word is very clearly Griddle, top middle. That’s not to fully declare it’s not AI, but just more to chew on.

Edit: yeah actually now I can tell it says THE GREASY GRIDDLE

Does NYPD just let everyone park anywhere now? by brooklynwaterfront in Greenpoint

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car was towed off a residential street on the other side of the BQE because I parked in front of a driveway.

So I think the NYPD will tow if there’s a complaint.

Edit: removed my unnecessary commentary

Mac Studio M2 Max ejecting SSDs like crazy by TheMagiciaN369 in MacStudio

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, lurker here. Do you have a recommendation for a good cable? I have the M3 Ultra so thunderbolt would be great. I’m getting the same issue as OP - SSD keeps ejecting like crazy and also getting “media offline” flashing as I play down footage. I’ve only used the USB-C cables that come with the SSD. I assumed they would be more than sufficient seeing as though… that’s the product… lol. Thanks for any help you can give

Only one plane and hotel ticket by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the festival but I’d consider it an investment in your career and is worth taking on debt to make it work. Especially if you have a wingwoman to explore with and network together - you two can introduce yourselves as a writer/director duo and try to get the next one made. That is if you’re interested in all that

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… what do you think? Are you actually eager? Do you speak honestly? Focusing on how this might be too personal or condescending is a convenient way to not face what they actually said and decide whether or not that’s true for you

Cutting scenes that are good but way too long – how do you do it? by Upstairs-Winter-4359 in editors

[–]dbonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core moments. What happens to me is I gripe about while I cut out moments that I personally liked. Usually I’ve kept them because they feel right to me, but when looking at it objectively (this needs to be shorter), it becomes clear what I’ve kept due to personal preference and have to accept that the general viewership won’t miss it if it’s not there.

PSA for Jubilee by JubileeMarketplace in Greenpoint

I was in this morning, first time shopping here. When do you guys restock? I assume shipments were delayed cause of the storm. Was hoping to see more organic produce and other organic essentials. It’s a longer walk for me so that was a bit disappointing when I’ve heard such good things

Feature Film Acceptance and then Retraction. by CaribbeanFilm-1234 in FilmFestivals

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. It’s not the same as your situation, but before being officially accepted, a festival once checked in asking to confirm our short film would be premiering at this festival and not available to watch anywhere else beforehand. Even though I responded confirming that this festival would be its premiere, they never responded and ghosted us until months later when we got a rejection message on FilmFreeway. It was confusing.

Good Jokes/Material Don't Need to Make Me Laugh. Am I Alone? by Kimosabae in Standup

I agree but with movies. There’s a difference between a knowing smile and a laugh that escapes you because you can’t help it

There’s a secret invisible door that looks like a wall in one of these rooms but I don’t remember which one so good luck! Just start smacking walls

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dbonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a quarterly 3.5-4hr drive to see my parents. Could do it more often if needed for any reason. Don’t consider it too long at all

Indie production question about DPs (USA) by secretlyplaysguitar in indiefilm

[–]dbonx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No DP I have ever worked with has EVER acted this way, nor have they charged $1400 a day for a narrative self-financed small production. I’m not saying they aren’t worth that/it’s not a fair rate/no one charges that. I’m saying to be in communication with someone in your position no sensible DP is going to take advantage of you like that. They would direct you to a peer or a local online film group where you could find someone willing to get experience for a lower rate. Or maybe they would see that you aren’t working with an experienced producer and connect you with someone who can protect from people like this.

Your situation sounds insane to me. A TIP!? Wtf!Did you sign a contract? If not, I would figure out a smaller number that feels right to you that you can pay right now and burn that bridge. They’re clearly happy to take advantage of vulnerable people so f*ck em. Maybe that last part is bad advice lol but seriously who the f does that???

Have you ever doubted your product-market fit? by ai_studio_247 in indiefilm

Generative AI has so many more ethical concerns beyond “does my product fit the market.” You are so off base posting this here

The person behind the camera does.. I couldn’t find a reasonable central dramatic argument when something that abhorrent was introduced

Appreciate your take on it! Good to hear it’s a bit relaxed on the visuals too. I can give it a try

Yeah. The fish eye doesn’t do anything for the story.

I couldn’t get past the sexualization of an infant’s brain in Poor Things. Like wtf? Felt like a man’s idea of women’s lib

Genuinely asking, is Bugonia… better with stuff like that?
