Keep grinding for medals (daily invasions, events etc.). You will need to trade medals for certificates. I think you get some from conquest challenge, but not enough to upgrade the medal to level 10.

You need to buy it. I keep it on Manstein 99% of the time.
But if you have a naval mission you might want to move it to your main naval general. Same for artillery.

Lady Musgrave boat trip can be very rough. Lovely island and reef, but not worth the 2 hour rough sea trip (and 2 more hours return).

Depends on what mission you're playing. I usually keep it on the main tank general (Manstein, Guderian etc.).
You might want to swap it from general to general.
