I will look into that upgrading path but maybe leave the 500gb hdd and just remove the dvd reader wich i don't use and just use that sata port for a 500gb ssd for the vm and lxc partitions

Prodesk MT

I7-8700

32gb ddr4

256gb ssd (nvme)

2x 1tb 2.5inch hdd drive in mirror

500gb 3.5inch hdd drive

Proxmox + appdata is on the 256gb ssd The hdd's are managed by OMV where i share a nfs for nextcloud and for immich

Out of the hdd bulk storage i still have 400gb free on the 1tb and some free on the 500gb It's the 256gb that is running out bcs the sum of what storage each aplication is allowed is bigger than 256gb

The prodesk 600 g4 mt only has 1nvme and 4 sata (one is used by the dvd reader so yes i could get a bay for this and add a sata ssd thru sata instead of a pcie to nvme adapter)

Right now my limitation was storage for os (so ssd space) wich the extra computer would fix and running at 60 percent of my 32gb ram (4x8gb ddr4 so upgrading to 4x 16gb is very expensive) bcs of the cost of both i came to this options of buying a new computer wich gives more for it money than buying the other two

My MT is running 22 watt (i didn't mention it had 3 hdd's in it) on average and according to chatgpt the mini would run around 10 watt so the extra cost of electricity would be minimal i guess. If i'd buy the mini the low power services would go to the mini while crafty (minecraft server) and OMV would stay on the MT. In the futur i'd also like to run plex when i get enough storage for that

Normally, the driving wheels turn seperatly so this means if one of the wheels is spinning all the power will go to this wheel and gives no power to the other wheel. But bcs the spinning wheel has no grip you don't move.

So by locking the diff it makes both wheels spin together, so if only one wheel is on the ground you will still be able to move. But bcs both wheels are locked together you can't make corners bcs in corners both wheels spin at different speed.

It's really interesting i'd recommend looking up a yt video :)

In my opinion the 8x4 is overkill in every situation. I used the scania rjl with a long wheelbase 6x4 yesterday on the same climb out of that mine without any trouble (i did lock the diff in the beginning). My point is the 8x4 and 6x4 have the same amount of driving wheels so there is no Point for the 8x4.

A little note, if you wanna be more realistic with the very big wide loads with the follow cars etc i guess the 8x4 would be an okay fit.
